And where. I'll be in my tree stand in Sullivan County in the AM. I'll probably do some scouting with the bow in the afternoon and set up near a field in the evening.

They're calling for 32 degrees overnight low on Friday night. That's the nearest town. We're 2400 feet up. Could see some white stuff. that would be awesome.

Scott,
I'll be in Green Lane in the morning & probably be back in the stand in the pm also!
I've been hunting in Solebury area since the opening of the early season but the deer seem to be spooked for the last 2 days so I'm going to give that area a break for a couple days to let them calm down, then I'll hunt that area hard again later next week!
Good Luck guys! And don't forget: Shoot Straight!

Got to run into town once to pick up a reloading die I ordered last week but I'll be in the woods the rest of the time.

I never miss it. It's basically the opening day of deer season. I hunted on September 20th but this is the opening day of buck or doe. That opens up the possibilities a little more.

Passing up PA to hunt NJ buck opener this year, for 1st year in a while..just to be closer to home so i can get all the honey to do cr^p done in time to get up to PA when the rut gets going good...last week in october...though when they're still hitting the food sources heavy, the first few weeks can be the best time to bag a big one with the bow really, if you ask me. You never know where they may go or be once the rut starts.

I'll be in McKean County for the opener. Not many deer left in our area due to the doe regs. This year they can't shoot does the first week of buck season. May help restore the herd.

Don't want to give all my secrets away :D:D:D

Actually, me and Scott made a bet at the end of last year for the first to bag a 10 pointer gets a case of beer of their choice. No big loss to me if Scott gets one first, he likes Bud .

He doesn't know where a 10 point lives. Actually, I don't either.

He asked me if a 10 point shot in the special regs area would count in the bet or is it just upstate. I said special regs cannot count if bait is involved if I'm stuck hunting the old ways upstate. :D

What weekend are you going, Wadd. I'm going to be up as many as I can. Unless I tag out, I might be spending all my time deer hunting but we could get together in the evening. Or stop by for lunch if you're hunting Red Rock.

There's 54,000 acres of SGL 13 up there plus 20,000 acres of Ricketts Glen. Plus SGL 66 and SGL 54. You'll have lots of room to roam up there.

I don't know about you guys, but the beginning of this season is a lil funny. I got one spot that is rubbed to the gills. More than I've ever noticed in any other year. My other spot (which I would call my best spot I hunt for deer) I couldn't find a single rub any where. I felt like a real jack-a** yesterday. I went to put my last stand up and couldn't find the exact tree I go on. I guess it's still just too thick. I onestly walked around in a circle for about an hour and couldn't find it. I think I did find the tree, but man did the saplings really grow around it. I wasen't sure it was it so I didn't put it up. Even though many of the trees around here are loosing already the forest floor is still super thick. It seems just the canopies are just loosing now.

Deer are starting to move. Last night on the way home I saw 2 bucks in Chester County PA. One was a BIG Boy and the other was a nice buck I've seen for the last few years. Some times it's almost like somebody flicked a switch and they start to appear.

Salty Dawg, where abouts did you see these bucks. I live in the area and have seen some big boys in the fields as well. I have seen them around sticklerville road.

I'm pretty excited about it. I'm hoping to start seeing the real bucks soon. All summer it's just been does and scrap racks. Usually, at our place, it's around Halloween when we start seeing the 8 point and better bucks showing themselves.

I saw the 2 bucks a mile apart just outside of West Chester.
