for the herd they have in tioga, it may not be a option anymore.
i hate spending the $100 for the piss poor hunting. $150 may keep me home.

Have to agree with you about Tioga Co., it really sucks. I keep passing up the does hoping to see more deer the next year but it's not helping. I keep posting here stop shooting the does but seems everyone says need to shoot does. I have friends that live in Tioga Co. they say if the doe slaughter keeps going there will be no deer. I see now that the PGC closed doe season in 4 WMU the first week of buck, what's that tell you...

I'll keep going but it really stinks. Our cabin is in potter, I want resident status since I pay real estate taxes. LOL I stopped buying the archery license, bear license, trapping license, and doe tags. I used to just buy it all whether I used them or not. I will just stick to the general hunting license and the fishing license.
Will be leaving for potter on friday :)

Well it does and it doesn't suck. The numbers are way down but the bucks are bigger. Since 2002 we have shot the top three bucks our camp has ever seen since 1954. Me personally, I want to see deer. We generally have about 18 guys at camp. More than half of them are "three dayers". I wonder how long they will be coming up if they are not seeing deer. Out of 18 guys spread out on several different mountains and a couple miles apart I would say 6 will see deer.

By no means am I discounting your opinion, but I hunt the northern tier and have seen great advances in trophy quality and quality in habitat. You may just have to change your hunting tactics. Not being a d--k just some food for thought... Maybe the old way just aint working anymore.

the quality did improve for a few years. we killed and saw some huge racks. but PA F+G went too far with the doe reductions, now there are no deer. i don't want the 50 deer a day with one spike days to come back. but they are going to lose guys if they go days without seeing deer. our camp hunts hard, very hard, just not seeing the deer. if nothing changes real soon they will lose my whole group.
i have more deer at home, it's not about seeing the big numbers. we would just like to see A deer some days. i love the mountains, but the 3 mile walk back sucks when you sit dark to dark and never see a deer.

Pennsylvania Game Commission and Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission are to seperate organizations. Hang in there UB you'll see changes. Wildlife management proposals take years to see results. Don't loose faith just yet. It'll change.
