headed out this morn with my muzzleloader, ready to go. got into my stand at 5:30. on my way in i could see the camera flashing so there were deer in there. at about 6, i could see a deer walking in too the bait. could just barely see the black shadow of it against the snow. stayed till about 6:25 and went out. by the way, i was freezing and i had on alott of layers. at around 7:30 right infront of me i had 4 does come on out comin right into the bait pile butttt, they put there noses up and started sniffin then a gust of wind blew right at em and they took off. stayed till 8:30 and by that time i was like an icicle. very hard walk out because the snow was up to my knees. ill be back out tonight to try and connect with one of them does.

You had better luck than I did .I parked my truck and saw tracks everywhere.The closer I got to my stand the less tracks.I never saw a deer, but there were new tracks up by the truck.I can not hunt by the truck because of some new houses.Going back in a little while. Good luck.

howd you do grizz? i had my first deer come out for the afternoon around 3:45. came right under my stand didnt even see it till it ran it front of me. let it go. 20 minutes later looked back and seen a deer on the path behind me it came up and around maybe 40 yards to my right. put off the safety, and boom, i saw some horns. pulld up the binocs and it was a buck. started gettin the gun up and it was walkin away from me by then. didnt get a shot. 10 minutes later had 3 more deer come from the same spot as the buck. 3 does. i wait for the bigger doe to walk through the clearing. grunt and stop her and hold the bead on her. held it there for a while nd then boom, i shot. head down but up and took off runnin. waited a little then went over and looked. had good blood but looked like it might have been a gut shot. hard to tell. im not a deer anatomy expert. gonna get out in the morn and find her. thisll be the first deer for the season. will post pics when i find her. :thup::bow:

I did not see anything last night .I saw several deer this morning .but all of them the were going mach one.Some guys were trying to find one they wounded last night and it happened to come over on my side of the creek.Between them shooting at everything that moved and there four wheeler it pretty much spooked the whole valley.The one thing good about it all the deer went into the thicket next to another stand I have .Guess where I'll be tonight?Was the blood you found bright red or dark?Was there anything else mixed with it?

well, woke up this morn at 7, ate breakfast, got a cup of coffee, then headed out with the quad to my spot. my sister wanted to tag along too. so i get to where the first blood was, follow it through and had light blood at fiirst. kept on goin and 15 yards in, started seeing dark blood and alot of it. kept followin it. 40 yards through i get to this big laurel bush where it looks like the blood is headin into. take one step into it and look up and there she is. felt good to find her. first deeer on the season and first time ever tracking. glad it was succesful.

thanks guys. went back out tonight and saw another 10 does! but no bucks unfortunately :(. thats alright, im gonna be huntin hard all christmas break, looking for that big BOY.

I think I found the one the other hunters were looking for.I had not been in my stand an hour when a little doe came out of the thicket limping badly.I usually do not take a deer that little.but I did.When I got up to her part of her right front leg was gone.At least she will not suffer anymore.

Grizz, thats good. atleast you made an ethical choice. probably helped out the deer and put some meat in the freezer. ddid it look like a bullet wound or like a bullet tore through it?
im gonna go back out tonight. not sure what spot yet but hopefully the big boy shows up
