Has anyone hunted in Lycoming County, (specifically along the pine creek) for deer in the past few years? Seems like the deer herd is getting knocked down pretty good. Bear is looking good though. I have seen numerous sightings around the cabin.

My family and I will be very close to there openning day of rifle and during the rest of the season. My lil brother is going to college right around there and since my family hunted rifle around my college when I was in we'll be hunting around there with him. My father has been hunting that area since he was 18. We know it's changed a lot, but he said he knows of some sweet honey holes around there that still should hold deer. But, talking about bear yeah that is probably the best bear area in the state. I bet we're talking about the same SGL infact. Small world. I've done some research about that area and the deer herd. It seems the antlerless harvest has been on the rise, but very slow. Many people complain about the deer population around there. A lot of people are used to the 70-80's when you would see 30-50 deer on openning day and they where all doe. Now that it' changed many people just think its horrible. Well it's not. It's just changed. So the deer pop is actually on the rise just very slowly. With the new antlerless laws we are going to see more deer too. The first week of rifle is antlered only and the seconded week is going to be antlered and antlerless. Trust me you'll start seeing more deer now with this law in affect. Shoot me a PM if you want to talk more about this area or the same SGL I think we're both talking about
