Hey Adam,
Back upstate Penna. (Tioga Co.) for another terrible season. This year they threw in a little twist. The road that has been open (Old Supply Trail) has been open for the last 20 years was close. They usually open it on sunday the day before opening day, not this year. Talked with the ranger he said that there were too many hunters hunting out of there car/truck and they would not open it until the second week. I asked why not target those who were hunting from their vehicle, he said the PGC notified them 3 days before to keep the road closed. That road opens up the whole top of the mountain (state forest) for a lot of hunters, now with about 30 trucks looking to use that road are now all jammed up along the road that leads to the top, not a good opening day. I did have a back-up spot that I use when that road is icey and can't be used. All week saw just 1 doe, she was large, belly low to the ground, had doe tag on back let her go on by. about 20 minutes later bang, saw her running, bang another shot, than another, finally went down( probably from carring all the extra weight of lead) Well long story short, think I saw my future 8-pointer going down with mom. It was pretty obvious she was pregant, but she was legal. Out of 15 guy's in camp one 6-pointer, no doe. I see in and around the area I do hunt (private) they have signs "No Doe Hunting" hope this helps. Hey Adam, I know you will see this, just wondering why they closed the old supply trail (Goodall tower road) in Ansonia, got to be a better reason then what the ranger gave us...
Your friend
Ron

Couldn't tell ya about the road closing. Have no clue. If it is from road hunters thats a real shame. All the guys who don't road hunt, but do use the road to gain acess now prob have a heck of a hike. I did pretty good. I got a nice 8pt at my camp in 2G and my brother got a nice 7 pt in a friends camp in Tioga. It was a great time had by all.
