Just set yesterday...First snare....failed cable stop..convict red on the loose. Second failed stop this year....not happy.
Second snare...caught a red. Dispatched. Picked up red and Removed snare and placed red on ground and continue to check line. COme back to recover red on way back to car and he takes off across the field at a full run. Never faltered. short to right between the eyes. WTF.
Had 5 snares on that edge and one failed stop and one came back from the dead. 2 connects out of five there. Good numbers on that piece. ENded up with a nice coon in a cage for the second day in a row. Crappy color on yesterday's, nice color today:thup:

when My daughters was maybe 10 and 8 my son was I guess 6 I took the kids with me on the line they loved to go. I had a grey fox in the snare. after doing the science thing and looking at it, I walked over and did the deed( yes my kids watched)( and yes they still agree with trapping) I took it out of the snare. my middle girl missy wanted to carry it. she took the fox and layed it over her shoulder and off we went. about 5 mins later she asked Daddy when foxes are dead do they look around?
I turn around and man that sucker is all wide eyed I said miss give me the fox I grab it by the back legs and held it up and had to do it again she said can I carry it again I said think I will on this one but thanks LOL
If I am leaving the fox there I apply anesthesia and leave it in the snare till I come back LOL

my history teacher in school used to run a small line before classes.
he did the BFT with a stick, then put it in the back of the truck.
on the way to school he sees the fox running around in the bed of the truck, had a cap on it.
on the other side of that. i had a grey in a snare behind the house a few years ago. went back to get the .22, my buddy chris shows up. we both go back to get the grey. it was dead when we got back. i think i gave it a heart attack when i first found it.

so im new to the site and i must say its an awsome one. i was born and rasied in south jersey (millville), moved out to houston texas for about 10 years. when i came back my buddy took me out to check his line. well.. we are on one side of a swamp and his line is on the other and i see something moving.. so we go over and its a coon..
i asked if i could dispatch it.. took me 4 shots.. point blank. i really couldnt believe it. i think it was a mix of being to close and a 22short. later that day on his other set he got a 45lb coon. i was going to trap with him this year but things happen and didnt attend the course..theres always next year. im just glad to be out of the city and back in the woods..
