I hunt in zone 19.The deer herd in my opinion has been going down hill for quite a few years.I am talking about land open to the public. Please respond to my thread. There is something we can do about it.Let me know how as an individual,or if you are a club hunter your thoughts on the deer herd in zone 19.I hunt with a club and this was the worst season in the past 25 years.Appreciate your input.Thanks.

I live in zone 19. Dont hunt it. Would like to but lost all my access to private property. land now has million dollar homes on it.

Amyway....unlimited does for 2 months(for the last few years) will do that. Groups of hunters/clubs/individuals/etc are taking advantage of it. Cant fault them for wanting to put venison in EVERYONES feezer but you (and I ) are now seeing the result.

The public portions get hit hard just about every weekend after 6 day by the clubs. Not faulting them just writin' what i have observed.

Bill, this is a noble effort, but I'm afraid it is in vain. If I have learned anything about deer management in NJ over the last two years, it's that the Fish and Game Council doesn't give a hoot about deer management...it's all about managing budgets. In my opinion, they are guilty of gross negligence, and all should be removed, and new blood put in place with new views and maybe some improvements will be made.

The fact is, if they can't find a way to make money off of it, they will not do it. On the other hand, find a way to further over-sell the resource, and they will do it, no matter what the consequences for hunters.

Good luck.

I also live and hunt in 19 and could not agree more! I can remember when you would see 25 deer a night and you had 10 or 15 bucks to pick from. I had 4 bucks on my field cams ending up killing one of them and then got a huge 9 pt that did not show up till clubs starting driving during shotgun. Something needs to happen! The state does not care about the hunters, only their pockets.

I live and hunt in zone 19 on private land. The quantity and quality of deer has diminished greatly in the last few years. I was fortunate enough to have seen a few bucks pass through during bow season. Last week one local drive killed several does and 5 small bucks in one day....., morning hunt ( the bucks were spikes to " y "s ) That evening the same crew took another 6 does. The " unlimited " tag is noooooo good

I just started hunting this year and did as much as i could during the summer in zone 19 and with 2 months of trail cam pics and baiting, tried 3 day harvest and shake and take and never had one buck pic on the camera. i hunted the first 2 weeks of the season and never went back since. im out of places to actually hunt since i live on the western side of camden county. and i only know 3 people that hunt and 2 of them hunt a small peice of private property and the other can barely get out. so now im pretty much beat since all the public land has low numbers of deer and many people hunt there already
