I'll always remember those days at the old hunting club. All those guys were like heroes to me as I was a wide-eyed kid wanting to be just like them.
In hind-site, they did more beer drinking and poker playing than deer hunting, but it was just that special deer camp atmosphere that can't be duplicated.
The fellow on the left is still buddies with us and comes to our new camp every year. The guy on the right is dead but his legacy lives on. We learned Italian curse words from him that are still used at the poker table at camp today. :D
Wadd - that club is only about 2 miles from the Dirty Dozen. If you go down Lick Creek Road to Route 87, make a right. Go past Wright's Hill and Shrimp Hill and your next road should be Lambert Hill. That's where the Potter's Club is. We used to drive by the Dirty Dozen all the time when we'd go for car rides.

We fished for everything up there. Loyalsock, Little Loyalsock, Hunter's Lake, Sones Pond, Katz's Pond, Lake Akiela and every farm pond in the county.
Cherry Mills Lodge is on Route 87. It's right across the street from Lick Creek and Gainer Hill. About 1/2 mile from the Dirty Dozen.
Remember the Green Swan Hotel in Dushore? Jay Birds? We also used to go over to the Forksville Inn quite a bit. Our favorite breakfast was at the Red Fox Inn which was on 220. I heard they turned it into a nudey bar. Foxy Tails, or something like that.

Great picture! I wish we could get a snowfall during buck season again. It's been in 50-70 the past few years it seems. I always remember my Grandpop talking about the snow in Huntingdon Cty (Neff Mills) and "riding" a deer down the mtn one time after he shot it and slid while gutting it.

That was doe season. Two weeks after buck season.
In 2002 it was -5 degrees.

I got a doe in 2002 and remember it being cold for the first day, and then warming up the next day. Of course I slept in, and slept off a hangover

In 2002 it was -5 on Monday. On Tuesday it was up to around +10 but very windy. My buddy was afraid to take off his gloves to tie his boots. :D
2006 and 2007 were really warm. 2005 wasn't too cold either. Maybe 40s. I know there was snow in 2003 but I forget 2004. I tagged out in archery so nothing big time happened to make buck camp memorable.
