I have a 8 pointer hanging in the garage. The tarsal glands stink the high heaven. Now I have read somewhere that I can cut these off and use them for a deer attractant. I do know not to contaminate the meat with the knife.
Has anybody done this before???
Do you put them in a plastic bag and freeze them??
Any suggestions???

Get yourself a plastic electrical tape container for storage and salt the backside of the glands and store in the refrig. should last a few weeks.

I have actually the lastime I did it I killed a coyote first almost climbed out of the tree it was early so I stayed and a 7 pointer came down the other side of the mountain. Both were heading right where the gland was hanging in the tree. Have not done it since, this was in NY about 3-4 years ago

They are the first things I cut off when I gut my deer....I was always told to remove them right away....am I wrong?
