Got up to camp on Thursday night and meet up with the guys. Man it was so good seeing some of my best friends at camp this year. We all had a great time and to add i got a buck. Actually I was the only one to even see bucks. Well we prob had a lil to much fun Thursday night and my Friday morning hunt was a bust. Needless to say I awoke up to day light (about 8am lol I'm ashamed lol:D). I did actually wake up around 4:45am to being drenched in sweat! Reminded me of my framing days on 90+ degree days. Well stupied me when I got to camp I stuffed the stove full of wood. Bad mistake. When I woke up I looked at the thermometer after I wiped all the sweat from my face and it was pinned as high as it will go which is 120 degrees WAUGH it hot! So the morning was a bust, but from what I was told when I did walk to my stand I jumped a doe and a buck. The next door property owner saw me coming a decided to say hi. The Pm hunt was a lil better. The wet ground started to freeze so everything started to get crunchy. I didn't have any action till about 4:40. A small buck made his way to me. In the fading light I still couldn't tell exactly what he was. Also, it didn't help I had a hemlock right inbetween the two of us. As night started I could get steps right out infront of me. Each and every single step was diffinitive. I (almost positive) had another buck infront of me, but just couldn't see him in the fadding light. I just figure it was a buck considering it was all alone and I could hear him rubbing trees. Saturday morning comes with a lot colder temps and a forecast of snow. We took it easy Friday night. Already having our fun Thursday night it was time to be serious. PESSSH nah not really nothing is serious at deer camp, but we did tone it down a lot lol:D. So Saturday morning comes. I'm in my stand by 6:45. At about 8:24am a lil small buck gets bumped to me. I think he was a lil fork and horn, but a lil far and small to tell. At a lil before 8:55am I hear a crunch coming my way. It's already snowing and it started at around 7:45am. So I hear it coming and coming, but the noise is right inline with a hemlock and I can't see through it. I know it's a deer cause I can hear each individual step. Finally i make out the image of a deer. I slowly pick up my rifle to try and scope him out. As he starts to walk over towards the base of the tree I can see clearly he is a nice 8 pt, but he's facing right to me. Ehhh to I put one into the boiler? Nah not in my mind n ethical shot (IMO). Considering I'm using a 30-30 and I don't wanna be all over Gods creation looking for this buck. So finally at 10yds he turns broad side like he's going to walk inback of me. BOOM he starts to trott off. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM!! Then he trotts about 30yds and hunches up then goes down. Later while skinning I did find out I did hit him 3-4 shots and all where in the vitals. I then get the hail over the radio Adam that you? holy heck whos doing all the shooting!, how many are there? As I got down to go claim my trophy I found myself in a winter wonderland with a great buck that I just harvested. After tagging and getting ready to field dress one my buds comes walking over (he can't sit still). And the first thing he does is give me a big hugg and tells me congrats. After that hunt we had a lot of fun that night. God I really miss all my good ole hunt buddies. We don't get to spend a lot of time together anymore, but when we do it really means a lot. To get a buck this year at camp ment more to be than tagging out on one of the monsters I had on my hit list here at home. I wish I could have a season like that every year.

On my way home I was going to stop at my brothers college and vist him. As if my weekend couldn't get any better He scored on a nice buck too! While talking to him on the phone I asked him how he did at his friends camp in Tioga he said he good. So I tried digging a lil deeper. So how good is good? "I got a nice 7pt"! After the hoots and congrats we both edmitted that we where going to try and suprise each other with the buck we got, but the excitment got the better of us. Saturday afternoon at one of his friends camps in Tioga County WMU 3B he scored also. I've ALWAYS wanted a picture of my brother and I with our bucks and I've finally got it. This is worth more to me than any trophy in the world.
