Saw a 3 point and a few does. Deer population seems way down, even when spotlighting. No one got anything. Checked about 5 camps, over 100 guys and big fat zilch! Ouch.

Maybe it's just me, but we used to see at least a few decent sized does to keep the heart racing. Now it's squirrel tails that have to suffice!

At least it was fairly dry and we had a good time!

Were in 4 D as well . What we saw and shot .
7 Guys at camp Hunted thru Today (Wed)

Bucks shot 0 Seen 0 1 Spike
Does shot 2 Seen by 7 hunters 35 in 3 days. (how many same deer??)
Not everyone had a 4D Doe Tag

Me personally The one Spike 2 Does.

Spotlighting we usually see the 6 to 10 Bucks and 50 plus Does on any given nite
We saw 14 Does after 1 hour of spotlighting

I wouldn't get discouraged by the spotlighting....I also went on sunday around my house in wayne and the deer that I know are there were not out in the fields....

if there are acorn in the hills, they won't come out to feed on grass along the roads.
but the herd is way down, too far down. maybe things will change.

Hey guys, what does the moon have to do with it? I know it's a part of the first rut usually, but what else am I missing?

deer move mid day during full moon phases also they feed at night and come out late go back to bed early, but as mentioned if thres acorns there not coming to fields......

everyone seems to be upset about the deer population in the mountains.. but many people still shoot does.
i dont understand... why?
maybe b/c the game commission is failing and the politicians are involved trying to make pa a trophy state
just my 2 cents

Gotcha - thanks!

Well - the only big deer we saw were crop damage ones taken by local farmers. No - they would not let us hunt their land either, but they think if they take out the bucks = less deer over the coming years. Talk about some trophies!

I think that hunting the rut is also a bad thing too. It's like fishing the spawn to me and bucks do dumb things then. Just my opinion.

Before the season, you are allowed to spotlight and see whats around but nothing after 11pm the day before firearm season and during the 2 weeks of season
