I figure with work and the rain forecast for tomorrow, It was time to start breaking things down for a few days. I pulled off one small piece and will pull off of the other tomorrow in the rain with the pumpkin army invading. Moving in a different direction for atleast next week or two where there should still be some reds and hopefully more raccoons and fewer if any hunters.

Finished on a nice note to my south. Everything I got down that way was a bonus, I didnt expect to trap down there at all, but I'm glad I did. Got some experience putting stuff up and had a ball. Was targeting three certain reds on one piece and didnt catch any of 'em, but got three others there. Maybe I'll return to there in January.

Todays single red.

Hope they do make a comeback for you fellas. Our yotes and reds have found a way...somehow. They aint about to get along, but they're dealing somehow..amount of prey maybe, I dont know.

Is this considered Cinnamon colored?? what he was doing in the middle of a corn field last night in the pouring rain, I HAVE NO IDEA. He's a bit bigger than the last two which ended up both being 30". He's skinned in the freezer waiting for fleshing and boarding.

he's pale, close to a cinnamon. just your luck, buyers want dark. :D

talking with redneck about the reds. he seems to think, and i agree, that the first generation of reds don't fair well with coyotes coming in. the rest learn to live around them. bad part was we had mange and distemper two years in a row, along with climbing coyote numbers. didn't leave many.

i set a short rat line last night. gona run it for three days. i want to pull before buck week. i don't want to hunt dark to dark all week and run the two short lines i have. got to stop trapping for the week.
i was setting a bank den yesterday. i always put my boot in the hole, line up the 110, then pull out the foot, and set the trap. well i put my foot in, get ready to set the trap, then a rat freaks out on my toes. i could feel him biting and scratching like a sewing machine. man they are quick. i didn't scream like a girl, my wife asked me that, but i couldn't get my foot out fast enough.:D

Get those greys! I love them things.

We got the snow good up here in spots. I got out and hung 4 snares on one spot where I could see a ton of canine prints in the 12 hours of snowcover between last night and this morning and then rehung 5 snares on one spot near home. The snow was nice. tweeked a couple things a bit. Found fox prints all the way on the top of a log pile 25' off the ground.!!
And if this picture doesnt get ya thinkin aboout the calling season, Nothin will!! Found myself longin for moonlight and the sounds of distress... 23 days and a wake up call!!
