I'm not an expert on hunting piggies, but I've taken them inthe US and in Africa. I can tell you this your choice of weapon depends on the way you want to hunt them (Stand, Stalk or run with dogs)
Stand Hunting may require a longer shot on a nice boar, so the extra range is a plus.

Stalking may give you a greater challenge with your bow or handgun. Running with dogs, I always go with a handgun. Nothing like getting into the fight, and risking a charge. I do know of a guide in Eastern Tenn that swears by a 12 ga. with slugs over dogs. That is if you have a team of dogs that will back off when the handler gives a command.

Or you could do it Country Style and stick it with a knife! But your handler will have a pitbull in a kevlar vest that will go in latch on the boars mouth, while the others go for his balls. Then you go in and lift his leg and give him the steel. Sorry to be so vivid but that's how its done. Either way good luck and please give us a report. Mamma was talking about sending me on another hog adventure this year for the roasts.

Either weapon will work.

Hope you have a good guide lined up.

Beware some Fl hog hunts are in some very small fenced in areas!!

Let me know if you want to hunt them in the wild. I know a real honest good hog guide that mostly hound hunt at night (it's different and legal!) Very reasonably priced with high success south of Orlando.
