Snuck out yesterday morning and set a couple small spots. In and Out. A different spot than last week which I had never set foot on before. Set seven fox snares and one coon snare with two cages.
Got near one of the snares and heard him try and stretch the cable. Nicest red so far and then I finally got a caged coon. Mean sucker. Wait till your just close enough and then lunge away.

OK, skinning coons is alot easer than canines for me! Only problem I'm havin on the reds is at the ears. The cased bodies are perfect..no holes or slits. But it seems I'm getting a slit on the outside of the ear base after I skin it down to the cartilege. Maybe I;m getting to picky with skinning out the cartilege instead of cutting the ear off and trimming it later...Not sure
Any advice anyone?

Thanks BA. Got another red today on a fence crawl under. Looked like he got caught early yesterday afternoon maybe just after I checked. He had jumped into the fence and entangled so he was d.o.a. and a little bloated from bein there awhile. He had just a hint of green in the belly. The head skinned nicely...think I got that down now, but the tail tore...first torn tail dammit!

Hey mudmarlin nice red. I know what you mean about coon. I set a snare at my mom and dads years ago, the coon walked through it and caught his backend. Was he mad then I finished him.
