hey all

looking to get a deer mounted this year if the deer hunting gods allow it. Ive never had one nice enough to mount, but ive had my eye on a tall 8 pointer all around my stand just havent gotten the chance to take him yet. so the question is 1st what do i have to do to have prep the deer for the taxidermist, does he skin the head out or am i responsible etc? and also who is reputable in the vineland/bridgeton area?

thanks

If you get your buck and you bring it to a butcher let them know you will be haveing it mounted. They will skin it and put a flash freeze on it. If you butcher your own deer just skin it like normal all the way down to the neck/ skull area. bring the whole hide to him, no way of screwing it up that way. I suggest making contacts with a taxidermist now so you wont be rushing then. Look at his shop, pay attention to the eye, and nose areas of his other mounts. Ask him if he has other people who you can call to ask about his work. And finally ask him how the hide will be preserved will it be sent to a tannery, tanned by him or dry preserved? If he says dry preserved move on to another taxidermist. Good luck bud.

Ribbs taxidermy in turnersville awsome job. Make sure you do not cut the hide far up the neck. Good luck I say I am going to get one mounted every year so far I only got one. doesnt always seem to work out.

be careful when you field dress him don't split the sternum. stop at the bottom of rib cage and reach in to cut wind pipe to pull the heart and lungs out. good luck!

I took a deer to Ribbs and he did a horriable job. I always heard good things about them and they destroyed my 10 pt. since then I have been taking my deer to Andersons in Vincentown and he is amazing....true artist, he is a little slower usually takes about a year but well worth it!

I find that very hard to believe, the ones he's done for me are incredible. They look alive. Alot of attention to detail.

I'm not here to say anything about ribs good or bad, he did a deer for me a few years back and it was great. I have never heard anyone have anything bad to say about his work! I would like to see a pic of the deer Ribs did for ya because, what your saying doesn't make sense, all taxidermists take about a year, and greg rib takes 18 months to 2 years! If your not friends with your taxidermist your not getting your deer back under a year. You sure your last name isn't Anderson?

Im sorry, i did not mean to upset anybody. I took the first deer I ever killed to Ribs and it was an 8pt weighed 150lbs when i got it back the neck looked way too small and it looked like it came from a 100lb deer. I took my second one to Andersons and it came out amazing. Mind you my first one was 16 years ago, the hide started to peel about 2 years ago. I gave it to the new taxidermist and he fixed it up. I dont want to change anybodys perception of Ribbs, i was just saying I had a bad experience....And no my last name is not Anderson...haha. I can post pictures as soon as I am finished moving...hopefully next week. I did not mean to upset anybody sorry!!!

I never had any mounted by Ribbs but all I ever saw looked great I personally am not crazy about the way his eyes look... think look a little too much like a muleys. Had severall done by Dens( Dennis Siderio) but now have them done by Bob in pennsauken and I'm very pleased. $500.

Does any one like Ted's Taxidermy???? not to bash the man he is very nice but... I wouldn't let himm mount one of mine if he paid me... sorry just my opinion.

Never fails to amaze me.
All we go through, all the money we spend, freeze, sometimes spend a lifetime before finally getting a trophy to mount, then we get cheap, want the closest or cheapest place. Yeah I live in PA but I still drive over an hour to go to Brown Bear Taxidermy in Pine Grove Pa.
Just google "deer taxidermy pa."
His work is amazing and price more than fair.
Work the drive, he gets work from all over the country including Alaska to Texas.
He did an incredible job on my 2006 Mule Deer too so yeah I am biased but its true, whats it worth to you and when are you ever going to get a second chance?

I just got my 12 pointer back from RIB'S TAXIDERMY -- they have a great display of different mounts at their location. Worth the money for sure!! I'll be bringing it for the display wall at the GARDEN STATE DEER CLASSIC in January

If y7ou are talking about Teds in Buena. When I shot my 8 pointer several years ago, his neck was huge, when I got the mount back looks like Bambi. Would not go back.
Den's in alloway has done several fish for us, great work.

I've gotten all my deer done by Bob Eisele's Taxidermy in Leesburg. I don't think it's Ribb's quality, but he definitely does good work for the money (around 400.00). If I ever shoot a true MONSTER buck, it's going to Ribb's.

Ha, ya know I've had fish done by your brother a long time ago..and in all honesty, I forgot about him. :o The bass was still in my living room until we painted, now it sits in the basement along with my 3 buck mounts.
