A Weekend of Hunting in NY.

Spent the Weekend Deer Hunting at the Catskill Pheasantry in Long Eddy, New York, Got there Friday, sighted in the gun, drove the quad around checking out the tree stands and got to bed early so I could be in the stand early on saturday morning...

Got to the stand around 5:30, sunrise about 6:30..Saw a few does about 8:00, but no Bucks to be seen..afternoon was about the same..

My Buddy shot a nice 8 point, dressed out at about 140 pounds..


Got up on Sunday ready to go..Saw a buck with some small spikes about 50 yards from my stand..took the shot and completely missed!!:huh:I know I rushed the shot and left camp totally pissed off I missed, but atleast I got a chance to get out and do some hunting, and meet some great people at the lodge:thup:Do your self a favor and check out the Catskill Pheasantry, it's a great place!!

I took a doe bright and early Saturday and then tried for a buck the rest of Saturday, and Sunday morning. I know that's not the way to do it, but it's been 3 years since I put meat in the freezer. Saw 17 does Saturday and none Sunday. My buddy saw 12 or 14 plus a small buck. We didn't see the bigger bucks, although 3 were within 100 yards of the house Friday morning. Oh well I'm eating tenderloins tonight so I'm happy. Maybe those 2 1/2 year olds will make it to next year.
