I'm member number 23876 ...
Have any of you done any of the management hunts? I've entertained the idea of hunting the Burden Hill property in Salem County but for one reason or another haven't.

UBNJ fights for bow hunters rights and causes.
they have hunts for members that only members can hunt. for the $20 each year and $5 for special UBNJ hunts. no one wants to hunt your land or is expecting to hunt your land.
they donate to archery programs for kids. the list goes on and on.
this is not a small club, it's a state wide group of people fighting to keep archery a top deer harvesting tool. these people fight for us at the state capital when anti's try and take away from archers.
anything else Doug?
Haven’t bow hunted in over 5 years but still a member.

Well, since you asked... :D
UBNJ is working on Bills to reduce the safety zone for bowhunting from 450 feet to 150 feet, and to allow Sunday bowhunting. The safety zone reduction Bill (A595) already passed unanimously out of the Assembly committee and will allow us to more effectively manage those suburban deer. It now has to be posted by Assembly Speaker Roberts for a full Assembly vote. I think we have the votes to pass it, but it needs to be posted. Speaker Roberts doesn't have to post it. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE should contact him and "encourage" him to post the Bill for a full vote. If he doesn't post it, the Bill will die.
The Senate Environmental Committee will be hearing the Sunday bowhunting Bill (S802) and the safety zone eduction Bill (S976) on October 6th, at 10:00am, in case anyone wants to go and show their support. ;) You should also contact the committee members, and your State Senator and ask them to support this.
UBNJ is also reviving the Hunters Helping the Hungry Program. Currently, there are only a few locatons in the north accepting deer. I am trying to get the program started in the southern part of the state.
UBNJ had an archery range at the South Jersey Quail Unlimited Youth Day, which was very popular with the kids. Also, the Monmouth County Youth Outdoor Day, and the South Jersey Youth Outdoor Day. If you have kids, and haven't taken them to this event, you are definately missing something. It's a great day for the kids and parents alike. Here is the link. http://www.geocities.com/outdoorday/index.htm (http://www.geocities.com/outdoorday/index.htm)
UBNJ also works with the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and Royal Rangers, NASP and other events and programs to get kids involved in archery and bowhunting. UBNJ also donates to Hunt of a Lifetime, a charity like Make-A-Wish, but for hunters.
UBNJ also carries 5 million dollars in liability insurance, which allows our members to hunt the properties of organizations such as The Audubon Society, The Nature Conservancy, The New Jersey Conservation Foundation, and township lands, in an effort to manage deer populations. Not all hunts are bow only.
There's much more too. Game dinners, golf outings, 3-d shoots, the Annual Jamboree and the quarterly magazine gets better all the time. There is so much material in que, the magazine is going to be expanded. Check out the website and see for yourselves. Everyone should take a few minutes to look over the Legislative page. Read up on the tips to effectively communicate with your Representatives, and check on the Bills pending. Good information for all. http://www.ubnj.org/
UBNJ fights to protect and preserve bow season and bow hunting in New Jersey. And no one will ask to hunt your lands...but you can hunt OURS.

The UBNJ like DV1 stated is not a club ! the best way to desrcibe it is ,A NRA type org that concentrates its efforts on NJ bowhunter and bowhunting issues. It is the only true voice for the bowhunter in this mad state we live in .
Every one and I mean every One should be calling ,emailing and faxing Assembly man Roberts to havr the vote put to the floor for a vote.

I heard Mike Volpe speech to the Cape May county Freeholders and at the Cape May national wildlife Refuge. At that point I had to join the NJ united Bow hunters. Both meetings were standing room only with 99% hunters. Mike Volpe was President at the time and He did an outstanding job of getting the true facts about hunting heard. Thanks to the efforts of the 900 plus hunters that showed up at the hearings and our spokesmen President Mike Volpe we can hunt these lands today.
