After switching into a different position for the cruisin stage of the rut, I seem to have found my reds in Southern Hunterdon after some big dogs came through a couple weeks back.
Saw four different ones THursday afternoon, one yesterday and two more today when I finally brought the camera. Only one duplicate siting. Been able to Id the trails they're using. I had decided to pass on this piece for snaring, but I may set some while I'm doe hunting in late november. Gang setting this area should produce a couple. The funnel I'm sitting is only about 15 yards wide.
Lots of frosting on this one...the others were mostly cherry red.
Mousing..Two of the males were huge. One from Thursday and one tonite.DIdnt get either one of those big boys on camera.

That first one looked like a couple I had on a deer cam. Not in his color but what you call flat.
The two big males I saw looked real nice. The one's head was all bushy...looked pretty full. I wont set on those in that spot for another two weeks. Most spots I wont set for fox until Early December. I may even wait on that spot where the pics were taken for calling. I didnt line anything else up in that area after everything else came together to the east and north. So it may be a callin only spot.

I am setting up on coon for 2 weeks they are looking good. the last 10 that I have taken on my jobs are really nice in color and look like they are ready for the most part not like DEC coon but nice. and I have some yotes that I want to try for before deer season starts. I have the itch for fur. It clears my head and brings me back to basics on location. wildlife control makes me key in on one critter at a time I gain on one end but loose on the other the needle in the hay stack thing.
You are most likely seeing it on you you see the fox crossing the roads so much that you edge trapping is sharp but you may struggle on the interior trapping. same with me I find My self keying on a critter out in the field instead of setting the places all will come lol (there are alot of places that some critters will go sometimes but only a few places that they all go all the time)
after a while of skinnin you can see the fur. that first fox has not got the under fur yet on the sides and hips. or from the distance it is a slight cross. but looks like no under fur.
the 2ND and 3ND they are OK color but there is a slight cotton behind the shoulder and guard hairs are still flat but will have OK leather may blue up just a little. they are fat LOL
