Picked up a Bowtech/Diamond Nitrous. Very nice bow. already set up with a WB and Tru Glo site.
Have my own opinions on arrows/heads etc. havent bow hunted for 10 years(too busy fishing) :Dand want to get back into it. I love shooting a bow. All the RAGE:D today is carbon arrows and mechanical heads.
Let me hear good/bad stories/experiences with both that you may have had.
Planning on having arrows/heads within the week. practice and practice some more. be ready for permit bow. no high expectations...just gonna hit the swamps in the pines and try piss off a buck or two. If i get one great if no biggie.

Carbon arrows are the way to go. Go with a brand that you can afford. You don't need the most expensive brand on the market to have fun bowhunting/shooting. Just get a middle-of-the-road arrow that is good quality. I know the carbon express is a popular choice. I shoot the Vapors by Blackhawk, I got them super cheap from a guy who was going out of business. I bought like 4 doz so I will be shooting them for awhile. They are by no means a great arrow but they fly true and hold up very well. Now, broadheads. Fixed or mechanical? Fixed I shoot 100gr 3-blade muzzys. They are a bad ass head and I've killed tons of deer with them but they are a pain in the arse to tune. I've also shot the NAP spitfires and wasn't real impressed. The problem i found with them is the "deflection" you get when you shoot a deer at an angle or you hit some bone. But they are easy to get to fly right, just screw them on and hunt.Fly just like your field points. I'm now going to try the 2-blade version of the Rage. I've heard good and bad things about them, just like everything else. Just have to try them out and make up my own mind. It's all about trial and error with bowhunting and everybodys an expert:rolleyes:.

Glad to see you get back into Bow hunting Nick! I did the same thing around 15 years ago! I haven't looked back!!! With all the new stuff on the market it's really hard to miss, and if you do miss it was probably due to something we did not the bow itself!
I shoot Easton Axis 400 slim arrows with Rage Broadheads.

Thanx for the info gentlemen.
Yeah right now leanin' towrds Easton...thats what i had before...just aluminum. LOL! and yeah I figure I'd try the mechanicals. Rage and Grim Reaper have my attention.
the only 2 deer i shot with a bow were taken with a 4 blade satelite areo and the other with rocky mountain 3 blade supreme... this is going back 10-12 years. I've only taken 3 shots on a deer with a bow so im still a rookie. :D
If i go with the mechanical i will only shoot broadside ( have heard about defelction).
Shootin 70lb @ 26 1/2" draw. most likely go with a 100 grain head.

I use Beman ICS Hunters and Tekan 2 mechanicals by G5. I absolutely love the boradheads, you can change the blades and they have a pretty solid tip. The arrows fly good and hold up well. They aren't cheap but they are far from expensive too.

if you are going to shoot mechanical blades use carbon, if you can afford the best get them you get what you pay for. if fixed heads are to be used go with xx78 superslams aluminum.

That is exactly my setup! I shoot the Beman ICS 4oo's and Rage 2 bladers... You'll love it!
Make sure you don't jam the arrow in the quiver too deep because it can cause the broadheads to open slightly. I just lightly place them in the quiver and double check them before I nock the arrow... Better safe than sorry....
Good luck with the arrows and tips!
