Well, I let one go tonight. Always a little sad to see it end. But he was too neat to let walk.
After last night and seeing quite a bit of chasing, I decided to sit on the big doe groups tonight. I had probably 20+ does and fawns around durng the afternoon and only one tall goofy six point chasin them around. At last light, I saw a bigger one coming into the grove. I hit the grunt tube and he looked in my direction. I had enough deer around me that I figured he would lock in on my area. He did.
It was getting darker and tough to judge, but I could see he had a mule deer fork on his right g2. and some freaky points. He got closer and he didnt quite have the total antler frame I would normally shoot at, but he had the body of a 3 1/2 so I let one rip at about 24 yards quartering to me. The others never saw me draw and the shot was good. I think I busted through the shoulder blade quartering back. He mae it about forty yards plowing with his front left quarter down low and piled up with five feet of the property owners driveway:D.
Tight racked 6x4.
