I have heard from someone that 10 - till legal shooting time is good. Also that if you get into the stand to early that the deer will have a better chance of smelling you. I have also been told to get in your stand every moment possible. Does anyone have any good ideas on what time I should be getting into my stand. Thanks.

all true why sit in tree for 2 hours in dark spreading your scent in cold air? i personaly like to get in maybe halfhour before light and b extra quiet. the deer r gonna go where there gonna go whatevertime they normaly do.so if deer move by your area at 715 y b there at 5.but im sure it can b argued both ways. i saw a big buck beded on a hill twice last week i do wanna get in there extra early with wind in my favor beacause he may b in bed just at daylight.:thup:ps sit 2 hour in dark or 2 more hours when you can actually shoot.JUST MY OPIONION:thup:

personally, I like to be in the stand as early as possible. Shotgun week I like to be settled in by 1pm at the latest. I like to sit for around 4 hours. For me that is perfect. I am a believer that the earlier you are there the better.

IMO I try to be in around an 1/2hour to a hour before first light. Just me though. I get a lil crazy about scent prevention too.

The best time to be in the stand is 30 minutes before the deer arrive.

ok, well the other day my brother was in the stand and was about to get out and there was a huge black bear. It tore apart our feeder. were kinda scared to go intot the stand in the morning so we have our dad drive us to our stands. Do you think that would affect the deer? We gety into the stand 50 minutes before sunrise.

well where i hunt, the road is only 200 yards from where i hunt and the road is frequently used. And the deer should be used to the tractor coming in to take the hay bales. They should come back, but when my bother tries rattling it sounds like he is bagning two pvc pipes together so that doesnt help either

there not pvc pipes im using the new knights and hales pack rack system. they sound okay. i just got them and still trying to figure best ways to use them. why not try them in woods, to see i if i got it down yet. thats the best way to see if i am doing it right. right?

yea but in doing that you scare away all of the deer and we havent got one yet. go on youtube and try to find out on how to use them. Then try it in the woods but dont try it in the woods until they sound real

I cant find it at the moment, I have to run out to go somewhere. But you have to look hard in order to find it. Its out there.

If you have other hunters in your hunting area you'll always feel pressure to get in earlier than them. If you don't have this pressure, be ready in your stand 1/2 hr before daylight. For bigger bucks, slip in as quitely as you can or they will slip out...

I think it all depends on what kinda hunting you do...If you hunt a pile than I like to get into my stand atleast an hour and a half before daylight....Just because all of my stands that are on a pile have deer on them in the early morning hours (3am-on)...I usually kick them off the pile and I like to give the area time to settle down and allow them time to get unrattled and come back in....Just my opinion....And in the early morning hours your scent rises so you shouldnt hafta worry about that...I had a BIG 8 pter on camera that came in everyday at 6:50 a.m.....The only problem was that I had deer on the pile from midnight until daylight...I decided to get in there extra early just in case I spooked the whole woods it would give it time to settle down....I sat for 3 hours in the dark...But I got my Buck!
