Been out hunting this spot, was climbing down the tree tonight and spotted a huge buck, but I was half way down the tree.

The black line is a trail connecting the 2 fields and is where most deer tavel, tonight I saw the monster traveling through heavy cover in the woods behind my stand. It's pretty thick in there, not alot of shooting lanes, and Ive never scouted good trees that deep in. Now I know how he got so big,but what do I do?

Proly no "right" answer here but you'll have to choose your options carefully if he's a monster like you say. But I'll give ya my two cents. If he's bedding back in the area you saw him then ya prolly should tread carefully. You may even want to wait him out in your present stand til the rut kicks in...maybe do some grunts and rattling. But if ya go in there and bust him you may have have seen him for the last time during daylight. If you believe you saw him in a travel area vs. a bed area, then I'd get in there mid day and take a peek, look for sign, and hopefully find a decent a place to set up a hunt...be sure to watch your scent. Me, I'd take the gamble on a careful peek around. :please:

I'd stay where you are .if you see him again hit em with some light grunts. If he's in the mood he should circle in.If he's as big as you say, he's probably dominate and will try to run off any smaller bucks. Your diagram looks like a place i hunt in L.A.C.

I agree with many of the other members. Back out for a lil while and let the place cool down. Then move down and set up. Don't wanna pressure these older bucks. Soon he'll have one thing on his mind and that is when he is most vunlerable.
