I just went out to feed our doe "bait" and 9 does and fawns were laying down just behind a grove of white pine in back of the house in a little spot out of the wind which is blowing pretty good right now. I have seen many nice bucks cruising in the rain except when it is really windy. I will scout tomorrow in the rain for shotgun season which should wash away any scent I drop..

i've seen alot of bucks in the rain. I think they feel safe because they can sneak in undetected.

Opening day in the morning it rained and we saw over 15 deer.

Also, one of my best hunting days was a day when there was 40mph winds, I should have not been in the tree because i was blowing all over the place. BUT.. there were deer moving all day long. It was last year. Temp was around 55 deg and the wind was 40mph. It was also the first week of November.

I love hunting in a steady 15-20mph wind.

If its raining out I don't even waste my time! A light sprinke or mist yes, but steady rain no.... I'd rather be in bed dreaming of that big buck or fooling around with the wife...lol:D

Stalking in the rain has alot of advatnages. I believe it's tougher for deer to hear you and smell you. Also if you are in an area with alot of other hunters during normal weather conditions - when it's raining you may be the only one creeping around at the time. Alot of times they are bedded and you can get up close to them.

Light rain, active. Heavy down pours, less active. Mix strong winds with a low pressure system, activity will be slow to none. Some of the best action in the rut is when it's raining. With rain in the fall and winter as we all know usually means cold tempertures. With the bucks chasing does in the rut, the rain and cold temps will allow them to be cool. When we hit a heat spell in Novemeber (usually a low pressure system) what happens rutting active slows down. Big rutting bucks get overheated faster so they will move less. High pressure puts them back on their feet. Hope this helps you decide whether you will be hunting in the am.

Hunt in a light rain and catch up on sleep in the heavy rain.

I have seen more deer in not so good weather than in good. the reason, in my opinon is this there are alot of fair weather hunters out there so when the weather is sunny, not so cold lots of hunters, little rain maybe some snow, cold conditions, not so many hunters now when do you think the deer are going to move during the day of coarse i don't believe this during bow season gun season only
