I use 180gr. bullets, a little heavy for deer but great for black bear, elk, etc. Get good with the 180gr. and you can hunt everything (less brown bear) in the lower 48. I reload so I can be pick & choose what I shoot. If you don't plan on reloading stick with the 180gr. you can get them anywhere, sport stores, gun stores, even hardware stores down south.
And remember practice, practice, practice, that's the most important part of hunting. If you can't hit what your shooting at it doesn't matter what grain bullet your shooting.

I use 150 or 165 grain for whitetails. Either work well. You could go to 180's but these aren't really needed for deer size game. 165 premium or 180's for bear, elk,etc

I agree. I use the 150 for whitetails and the 180 for moose.

i own the same gun and use the Remington 150 gr core-lokt. Great round. It also depends on hunting conditions. If shots are under 150 yds then you could go up to the 180 grain also. The main thing is the lighter bullet will generally shoot flatter and that is what u want if u shoot out to 250-300 yds. i killed a buck last year at just over 300 yds with the 150 gr round. And no need to look for a blood trail, if the deer falls in his tracks!!!!
