I went out this morning around 6:30 and put out corn and c'mere deer buck juice. I am right along the edge of a corn field, wooded area and their bedding area. Around 7:15 I see a doe on the other side of the field(200 yards). It comes in at 15 yards.Turned out to be a huge 2 point. While it is eating at my pile, I slowly go to get my bow. The buck decides to stop eating acouple of times and looks right at me. Just about the pull back , the buck turns for a second than dashes off. On the run I take a shot, It stops at 50 yards, looks right back at me and walks into the woods as if nothing happened. The only down side is that the whole time the deer walked straight on to me and couldnt get it to turn, Is their anything that I should have done differently. I figured out my self that once I saw it a far distance away I should have grabbed my bow and got ready( did that to late) and when it ran I should have grunted instead of taking the shot because it migt have come back in as if nothing happened. This is like my 4th time out and my 2nd seeing things. Have taken my first deer yet so I am not perfect when a deer comes in. Please tell me what I should do differently. Thanks

hi friend. ok from what i read you corrected you own mistakes by not gettin your bow ready way before it got near.second let the deer eat for a bit hell relax.3rd never try to draw if its facing you draw when he looks the other way or puts his head down,if you dont have a shot wait for him to get ready to leave he may give you the perfect shot.4th you should never take a shot at a running deer with a bow, chances r the results dont come out to good.you can wound him and never find.you should just let him go and chances r he may come back tommorrow or other deer might have come out possibly a bigger buck was coming and he ran but thats a stretch.I BET YOUR HEART WAS SCREAMING WHICH IS Y WE HUNT ....HANG IN THERE LET THE SPOT COOL OFF A DAY OR TWO AND GET BACK TO IT IF WINDS RIGHT.. DID HE LIKE THE CMERE DEER BUCK JUICE?;)

In another post you say you never took the shot.....now in this post you took a shot.

your words: got into my stand around 6:30. Put my corn and some of my c'mere deer buck juice out. About 1 hour later a deer comes across the field. It was a 2 point that was huge. Go to 15 yards. About to pull back and it gets spooked. Couldn't get a shot off, came in facing me the whole time. Would of that been a good shot to take or not. That is the only reason I didn't take it
other words: Im sorry but what do you mean by that? I couldnt take the shot, it was a bad shot and I would never take a shot like that.

What's your deal? Anti fishin' for details? I can't figure you out yet.

We all learn from our mistakes, but NEVER take a shot at a running deer. Once a deer runs he is gone for the day, even if he stopped he is to high strung for an archery shot. Some of your senerios are quite far out there dude. Everything spelled right?

Remeber the Tase Deer thread you started? If your a young hunter and you really want help shooting deer, think about things you ask, read other peoples questions, and then ask the questions. We all love this sport, and it just happens that we live in a state that has alot of people that don't like us doing what it is that we love. All of the local hunting forums are used by the anti's to show how stupid we are, when people ask question like can we tase deer, it gets out there and it looks like we really would do that to deer. Kind of like when a horse gets shot with a bow, it goes out of the news as " a hunter shot a horse today" even though the moron that shot the deer never had a license and it wasn't during any deer season, we still get blamed for it. There are alot of guys on here that would love to help you get your deer, but we are allways thinking when strange questions are asked. Most questions can be answered by yourself with a little comon sense and time in the woods. There weren't hunting forums when alot of us started hunting, we just figured things out by listening to oldtimers, and spending time in the woods.

DONT RUSH THE SHOT. IF YOUR NOT CONFIDENT THAT YOU CANT KILL THAT DEER DONT TRY.TAKE DEEP BREATHES AND COUNT TO 3.A RUNNING SHOT AT A DEER WITH A BOW NEVER TURNS OUT GOOD.DONT SHHOT JUST TO SHOOT.YOUR DAY WILL COME TAKES TIME AND PRACTICE.

dont shoot 2 pointers no sense to let them get bigger an breed more bucks thats why they have doe tags for meat. i kno in jersey you have to earn ur buck but i dunno atleast a bigger one then that. also relax in the stand had the same problem plenty of times :o

My first time hunting this place, i was in the woods. My dad was coming to pick me and my bro up. Had 15 minutes left. Decided to get out of our stands and walk along thr property. Walked by a field, 200 yards away saw 2 huge deer. Snuck up on them, about 70 yards away. One huge doe and ok size 4 point. Walked up a path by a corn field and there was a 6 point 25 yards away. couldn't shoot, ran before we could draw
