IMO, unless heavy rain, it's good for deer movement.

Nothing better for me when there's a light mist. I think they're ability to detect smell is improved because of the higher moisture content. Puts them at more ease, i think. It works in their favor and movement increases. Just need to be that more careful when bowhunting on shot placement.

If it's a light and variable rain then yes, I'll hunt. Heavy rain, I stay home. The deer will hold tight in heavy rain; however, once the rain starts to pull away, the deer will start to move so its best to track the weather via radar to determine when and rain is going to let up in your area. Get to your spot before the rain ends entirely for your best opportunity.

If a low pressure is starting to move through, it's best be hunt the day before the front moves through. Deer like most animals can sense a drop in barametric pressure and will begin to feed up until the front approaches and right after it pulls aways.

Buy one of the camo umbrellas you can put over your stand. It helps to keep the rain off but only when its not windy. Like said before, light rain is the best and variable rain as well

BIGGEST THING TO REMEMBER WHEN BOWHUNTING IN THE RAIN: WAX YOUR BOWSTRING AND KEEP YOUR BOW AS DRY AS POSSIBLE!!! I learned this the hard way because your bow string soaks up the water adding weight to the string thus slowing down arrow speed and causing your arrow to drop faster. I had a buck at 25 yards, perfectly broadside. I was rock solid on him and I watched as the arrow dove under his brisket just knocking some hair off. I replayed the scenario many times and read up on the internet and know this is what happened...so remember to wax your bow string before hunting in the rain and try to keep it as dry as possible

Can you buy this wax for the string at any store? Any brands better than others?

Any archery store should have it. Bow string wax its very common. Pounding rain I never see anything. Light to mist rain yes I've seen deer move. If it's rut it never matters.

I have found that deer will move in a light rain but once it is a heavier, steady rain they bed down.

One thing that I 100% believe in and has held true almost 100% of the time, is when a heavy rain stops, the deer move. It is almost like clockwork. No matter what time of the day. If it is downpouring all morning and it stops around 1200, I'm in the stand.

I have walked up on many bucks during a light drizzling rain. Every buck was feeding. The rain quiets the forest floor and holds your scent down. The key is to watch the buck and time when he lifts his head to look around. Don't be too quick to take a step because the buck sometimes lifts his head up again right after he puts it down to feed. You can get within 30 feet of them if they are facing into the wind and you are sneaking in behind them.

I don't remember seeing any deer during a heavy rain.

I agree It is very easy to lose your blood trail in the rain. There is always tomarrow.

Hunt in the light rain and catch up on sleep in the heavy rain.

It's crazy because within a few mins. of stopping they are up,just like you said.

The other day i seen a solid 130-140 class 10pt. walking a field edge in a light rain. 5:30 in the afternoon 100yrds off the road. I almost crashed trying to get stopped and grab the bino's:D

i think during the heavy rut they will move anytime looking for love! but pouring rain they hold tight because they cant hear thats 1 of there survival senses, a light drizzle is perfect in the rut and if you use real feathers like i learned the hard way make sure to keep them dry.
