I just bought a new scope for a deer rifle and when i went to boresight it i had to move the left/right dial all the way left and the up/down dial all the way up...Why?

You need to set the bases and rings properly. If the bases and rings are set right you should be just about in the middle of your scope adjustment range. Dial all the way left then count the clicks right. dial back half the number of clicks you made and you are set left - right. Do the same thing up - down and your scope is ready to mount. If it's not close to perfect then you need to look at getting new rings or bases. Don't go cheap on your rings and bases. Make sure they are made for your gun model. It may take some trial and error. Tinker a bit and make sure everythng is set with loctite and tourqued to the reccomended poundage. It is very important to do it right if you want it to work right.
