Hunted a spot a couple times so far this year that has proven itself in the past however bow hunting is new to me as I generally only rifle hunt. With a ton of hours spent without even sign of life I decided to try a new area. And by new are I mean 30 mins away. I was only able to recon this other area one other time right before the season started for about an hour and I had found a good amount of sign, so I figured what the heck. Unfortunately, I didn't make notes of any good trees so I was kinda going in blind with just a general "area" in mind. With my flash light I found an oak with a ton of acorns on the ground and about 15 yds away was a walnut with the ground covered as well. I figured buffet line so I picked a tree and up I went. I was in lala land when I hear a twig snap and I looked down to see a full mature doe feeding below me. I could have jumped down and landed on top of her lol. I was like wtf im an idiot lol... So I stand up s l o w l y and lift my bow off my hook when I realize THERE'S A SECOND DOE... im REALLY an IDIOT! She's staring right at me....busted.....its bleeted and bolted. The other doe took off too but stopped 30 yds out quartering away. I quickly drew and released a beautiful shot.... ON THE WRONG PIN :eek::mad: 2" over her back...... she bolted. So......I learned a few lessons this weekend  UGH it pains me....

Guess ill go back and try again Sat.....

the joy of a bow.
but your hooked now. now you can't wait till the next hunt.

if you had a crossbow you could of taken a running shot at 80 yards.

lol That happens to everyone at least once. Wrong pin, misjudged yardage, etc. It's all apart of the wonderful game of bowhunting. Sounds like you found a good spot. Don't worry their will be more opportunities.

Dude, UB com'on man:thdown:

just a little anti crossgun joke. :D

back on topic, thats the joy of bowhunting. your so close, but that doesn't mean it's close enough. it's a game of inches. but when you do connect, it's so much better then a gun kill.

U are most of the way there. When that first bow deer goes down you'll put the rifle in the closet. Then you'll start travelling with the bow. The rifle will miss you!

If you had a crossbow you can shoot 150yrds on the run through brush, just like buckshot!!!!
