I'm not to fond of heights either. I have a Summit Viper and I feel very comfortable in it. I'm about 220lbs. Summit has a model for bigger boys. It's called the Goliath. Check it out.

My brother and I both have Summit Viper SS's. Light, comfy, and easy to setup. I'd recommend it to anyone.
My brother is 6'1 and 180 or 190. I'm 6-1 and about 245 to 255.

if you are afraid of heights look at something that has the rail and a good safety harness it might put you at ease a little.

Goliath is good for big guys. My buddy is 6' 3' and over 280.
He has used one of these for several seasons and had no problems.
When you get one start out on trees that have another tree in front of it running parallel the one you are climbing to give you a secure feeling of something in front of you. He used to only go up the tree about 6 ft at first to make sure it would hold and to get more secure feeling. Each hunt increased height over next several weeks until got to height he feels secure at (15-20ft).
Good luck.

How hard are the climbers to use?

Swab,
My opinion is they aren't hard at all. After a couple times up and down the tree you will be good to go. I would suggest reading the manuals and watching the DVD if the stand you purchase comes with one.

Try to find a stand with a removeable front bar. The front bars are nice for security & gun hunting, but with the bow they make nearly impossible to shoot while sitting down, which is what you wan't to do with the bow...if you don't have to stand, your chances of being busted decrease dramatically...and I'd also argue that you can hold steadier while seated. Summit makes one with a removeable front bar as does a lot of other co's. Of course, always wear your safety harness..attached to the tree, from the ground up.
