when you guys see tracks for mink when they're 'loping', how many 'prints' do they leave in a single spot? I found dew marks from paws this morning leading on a trail I think is mink about 24" apart, but only 2 wet marks per set. I suspect mink because of the run they drop into....just curious. Cant tell actual tracks for ID, just wet marks on the paper roadway. Have pictures if that will help. LOL...just wanna catch one and I think I've got a couple homed in on.

most likely mink??? It's the distance between sets that's got me confused...

my track record on catching these things sucks.
i have them in the back yard, and haven't got one in 5 years.
i do see tracks, but they are coming and going out of water. then my flood plain is leaves. i see very few tracks, i don't have soft mud for prints.
i would think when they are running they would leave all four prints close.

or your tracking tree rats.

LOl..No tree rat UB. You'd have to see the spot to get it..
It was at night and the distance between those prints was about 24".
It's a neat area. If you go there in the mornings at sunrise, when there's a heavy dew, you can see the canine and coon paw prints on the pavement where they cross over between meadows. Neat stuff. But the pattern on this guy was different and he dropped into one of those really narrow runs on the water. May put a camera reall low to the ground for kicks....would be neat to get a close up of a mink.

yeah looks like them it is moving across that road at a good clip. tracks about the size of a quarter. I catch them on bottom edge sets I understand that method just need a lot of traps but for me to snare on a trail:huh: I can't get to mind set set for some reason makes more sense to me just throw the snare over my shoulder and set it where it lands LOL give me a coni

How did you see them on the road doing 80 LOL

Yup...bout the size of a quarter redneck. I gotta follow that run back along the water and see what I can find for location.

80 on that paper road.....my teeth would still be there, along with my ........:D

chris fell for them hard two years ago. kind of like running a coyote line. you set, then wait, then wait, then wait. then it happens. he was running a two hour mink line at one point, all snares.
he was using the eric space type of set. the brick set. got a few coon with those little snares, they pulled them into deep water and drowned.
i'll get one sooner or later in a rat set.
