Guess I have the unfortunate honor of being one of the first here on buckbarn..

Please remember my baby boy Cole in your prayers if you could.. We are at Goryeb Childrens Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Morristown. We're gonna be here awhile. He's proven to be quite the fighter in his first eighteen months, and he's gonna have to keep it up more than ever..

Keep those bowhunting reports coming....It's a distraction and i'm hunting vicariously through you guys for now....

It was a rough couple of days including 3 surgical procedures tues night. 1 doc got the boot after some issues and a second neurosurgeon was called in around 0230.

He seems a litte better this am. still in for a long stay at best. Hope the hunting is a blast. I guess the weather is gonna take a turn for the worse..I havent seen outside since sat. am, but I heard its been beautiful.

Thanks to everybody.. We're pretty anxious tonight. Next round of surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 0730. Wife is with the little guy tonight. I had to work the midnight and will be back at the hospital before they take him to surgery in the am. Hopefully we'll know more by tomorrow.

Well, he made it through today's surgery ok. He's in some pain, but they're treating him with the good stuff. I just barely made it back from work before they took him to the OR. They came earlier than expected. I would have been pissed!

Sounds like we've still got a ways to go, atleast one more procedure, but he's fightin the good fight:fight: Thanks again for keeping him in your thoughts.

Well, day 17. I think they're gonna atleast move him from intensive care unit to the pediatric ward tomorrow. Sounds like another three or four days and then re-evaluated. I suspected we'd be here awhile, but not this long....My grass has gotta be two feet tall!! Leaves are turnin' and deer are fallin'..

The buckbarn seems to have come along at the perfect time.. You guys have provided a great distraction..They've got wireless service here.:thup: I've gotta admit though, it's a double edge sword. Glad for the distraction, but it makes every day harder..Harder than just seeing my boy like this. Keep tellin myself..what doesnt kill u makes you stronger. And I'm grateful at the same time.. there are many who are worse off than Cole. You see that here and you're always reminded of it by the faces of every parent here.

Day 22. I think we may have to transfer Cole to CHOP, COLUMBIA or Cornell. They seem to be at a loss at this point and the frustration is building for them and us as well. And to see him suffer this long is too much. His infection seems to be long gone, but he vomits every day, regardless of whether or not he is eating and he wont try to sit up or stand at all. He wont try. And GI here doesnt seem to want to acknowledge the problem is gastro, despite the input from neuro and the dr.s in ICU.

Mudmarlin, I don't know much of Cole's condition, but if you feel your doctor isn't up to par, then by all means find another. I'm sure you've already thought of that...Anyway I will make sure to keep Cole and your family in my prayers. Stay strong!

Well I made it home last night after only seeing the other kids for a total of four hours in twenty three days. My wife stayed with Cole last night so I could head home. Wow what a change in the weather and leafs.

Feeling cold tiles under my feet and brewing a hot cup of coffee was awesome.

And Cole hasnt been sick in almost two days now. They're even using the "discharge" word finally. We're keeping our fingers crossed and dont want to get our hopes up. On the way back to the hospital, I drove by and checked a spot this afternoon and WOW. awesome sign. An end is finally in sight hopefully!

My son is home now. He's not quite himself with a long way to go, but he had a follow-uop Ct scan today and everything looks Ok. They removed his stitches, so hopefully he can start growing back some hair...after daddy takes him for a buzzzz. We gotta even that thing out!:D
