Wondering if is legal to kill feral swine during the deer season. They say there are a few counties that protect them just trying to fine out which ones don't. Was watching a show the other night on feral swine and the problems they are creating, most southern states shoot on site. They claimed back in the 70's there were 14 states that had feral swine in them, now there are 41. The show said that a feral swine can start having young as early as 8 months old, average 6/litter, and mate 3x/ year, that's a lot of pigs. Claim they destroy crop, small animals, and carry all kinds of disese. They also claim that the problem is already out of hand, just wondering if they were legal... Ron

LOL a break. Thanks, Ron. Alright, here is a press release from June. I believe the protection in several of the NE Pa counties has been lifted, but remains on the SW and SC counties. I could be wrong, but check into it more. I know of two people who did shoot some hogs in Susquehanna county before the protection was put on. Big boars too. What TV show did you see? Here the press release link : http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?A=11&Q=176718
I've been hanging in there. Been staying active as always. I had a heck of exciting winter. I was working for your favorite people lol.
If you find feral pigs outside of zone 25 just let the Division of Fish and Wildlife know and they will probably expand the hog harvest area. Currently it's only in zone 25 because that's where the reports of feral pigs are coming from.

Adam,
Always a pleasure dealing with you, whether we agree or not I feel I get the real deal when you respond to the E-mails. Not sure what the show was, caught it flipping thru the channels. Seems it was geared toward the southern states but they also said it was a problem or becoming a problem now in 41 states. Heard a couple of years ago that it was starting to become a problem in Penna. Just wondering if they open it throughout the state of Penna. like to know when I get into Tioga Co. Haven't been there since May so I haven't got to talk with friends up there yet.
P.S. Got my doe tag....hope I see a big one so I can say Bye-Bye give birth to that big 8 pointer ! !
Not hunting related but, I was up in your neighborhood last week, Wal-mart on 309 (Quakertown) bought a small digal camera there, want to get a nice picture of that doe... :)

i know they were in 35. seems a farmer thought it was a good idea to buy some "wild boars" and let them go, then charge to hunt them. not a fence on the farm. i'm not sure how many were let go or if they shot them all.
i trap near there and never saw a track in febuary and march.

wow:eek: That is a very bad idea. What was he thinking? I wouldn't be suprised if the state or even feds go after him for releasing an invasive species. Not to mention owning the permits for exotic species.
