Right now I am packing my gear for a muzzle loader deer hunt in Kansas.
Not mine my buddy's. I am going to be guiding him in one of my favorite hunting areas and scouting at the same time for a future bow hunt that my wife and I have tags for. Wish us luck and hopefully I will have some pics to share with you all when I get back.

Great stuff wish you guys well Bud. They lightened their license restrictions last year, there were some west deptford guys that went out there last year and shot some nice bucks. Take lots of pics and post them.

I hunt just a bit North of you. I have been hunting out there for several years now. I am hoping that the Kansas Game and Fish didn't screw things up too bad this year with all of the non-resident tags they gave out!
I definitely will be taking some pics to share with you guys.

I just got back from guiding my buddy in Kansas this afternoon. The rear of the suburban was very empty (deer wise) but, the front of it was full of smiles and new memories. He passed on a few non shooter bucks and had one clean miss with his muzzle loader on a big shooter buck that was getting out of Dodge as quickly as possible. Next time!
Right now... I am falling a sleep as I am typing this, washing my hunting clothes, packing my truck and heading to Maine in the early morning to help my Mother on her moose hunt. My butt is soooooo tired right now but, tis is the season.

Sorry for the late report. I got back from Kansas last Saturday and left for Maine Sunday morning for my Mothers moose hunt. We had a good early season muzzle loader hunt in Kansas but, came home empty handed in the end. One clean miss and plenty of ball busting to go with it. The bucks were still hanging together in their bachelor groups and staying tight to the private ground. Years past by this time they would have been dispersed and already be in the public areas that I hunt but, not this year. One of my favorite spots is gone forever unfortunately, the landowner put up a 9 foot high fence, 3 miles long.

My Mothers moose hunt ended yesterday without a bull in the freezer but she was still excited about the hunt. She had a big bull in her scope two days ago but couldn't close the deal... that's hunting!

My next trip will be with my wife to Kansas for a whitetail bow hunt, hopefully we will have better luck.

Im sure you had a great time on both hunts Rock despite not harvesting any deer or moose as it's not always what you got that matters, it's the hunt itself and who you share it with that really matters. Nice pics, beautiful out there indeed. Good luck on your bowhunt with the wife!
