In NJ, only a firearm has to be cased when transporting in or on a vehicle including an ATV.

Even a bow has to be in a case, that's what the regs state.

What reg is that? I did several electronic searches of the 2009 F&W Hunting Digest with negative results. Only the regulation about firearms must be cased during transport was found.
Do you have a page number?
A cross bow is just another bow and need not be cased during transportation. It must be uncocked though. The regulation on firearms being cased is in 23:4-24.1a, but it only applies to firearms. Any other questions?

there is NO regulation that states a bow or crossbow has to be cased...that being said, it's in your best interest to have it cased...it protects the weapon from shock and the elements
