I shoot fixed blade muzzy's(3-blade 100's). They are a pain sometimes because they seem to plane quite a bit. I align the blades with the fletch and spin them to make sure they don't wobble. Out of 6 or so set up, I'll find 3 or 4 arrows that shoot consistant. Is this normal and is there an easier way? My bow touches arrows at 25yrds with field points so I don't think it is a bow tuning issue. I just can't find an expandable that I like.:)

Muzzies are tough to tune. If they spin true, they fly true. I believe the trouble with muzzies is how they go together. If you want to shoot a fixed position, I find that Rocket fixed postions spin the best.

Does aligning the blades with the vanes really help? I used to try to do that but than read that is doesn't matter one way or another.

And for what it is worth, I've found that Thunderheads are usually pretty easy to tune. 3 of the 4 setups my brother and I have had have shot Thunderheads well with minimal to no tuning.

I always aligned the blades with the vanes and it did make some difference for me Phil. I dont do it now that I shoot a drop-away rest. I was told it wouldn't matter and it doesnt seem to...but i still do it.....old habits die hard. That's with thunderhead 100s for me.

onthehunt...it's never been uncommon for me to have a couple of arrows consistently fly better than others. key was to shoot and identify those arrows that flew best with the tips and use them in the hunt quiver.

It doesnt make a bit of difference. The ONLY way to tune a broadhead is to put them on a spinner. If it spins with no wobble it will fly true no matter where the fletches. You would be shocked at how much wobble is in some arrows. It is important when puttting in your inserts to do it correctly and when cutting the shafts to do it even. To much pressure and they will be cut on a slight angle making putting inserts in square difficult.

you didnt mention the type of arrows you use. for me fixed blades shoot a lot better from aluminum arrows xx78's. been shooting fixed blades forever 25yrs. forget about field points and practice with broadheads. a lot differant drawing and holding a big ole fixed blade at the end of your arrow then a field point. you tear the heck out of your targets but thats how you will learn and tune your bow with broadheads. if thats to much to do use mechanical heads seems they are making them a lot more dependable these days.

Thunderheads and Slicktricks I've found to fly the best, though I shoot mostly mechanicals now...i like big holes.
