ok holidays over lets get ready for our favorite fall quarry.some of us get to hunt on the 13th depending on zone.i for one am excited done some searchin got some chiggers hung a stand now just wait . anyway i was thinking, wouldnt it b cool to tag a buck in velvet. but we have to get a doe first . if you know what i mean like it is hot and dragging a deer and getting it dressed out in the heat is a challenge and tiring.anyway my point wouldnt this work ;you can shoot your buck first but your next deer must be a doe no matter what up to shotgun week. this way you got a buck in velvet {if lucky they still have} then you get a doe and if you dont want another deer thats fine you got 1 buck for the season and your not killing the population since you cant take another deer unless its a doe. whatta ya think.

I am all for it , they opened the season early to allow for more does to be killed ,they say it is a population issue ,so i dont think it would happen .You can kill your doe and check it in and hunt the same day for your buck so get it done in the am and your buck in the pm

you could tag two deer at 85 * track, gut ,pay for cooler, then go for a buck but man i bet your beat and the zones they choose for that r wiped out of deer by clubs in jan. every sat drivin same woods over and over and over. good luck. just sayin a buck in velvet would b nice then a doe like when she is done nursing fawns in oct.

the doe first is needed in most areas, but the unlimited does for 4 1/2 months is too much.
my place is very well managed, 50/50 most years. problem is passing pope and youngs waiting for that doe. it will make you pull your hair out. but if you want to start early take that doe.
we are already seeing bucks polished up. they are losing the velvet early this year.

Early season bucks with velvet are not that much of a problem if the season is early enough. this year its a week later and i have on camera some bucks loosing it already.

Problem is not everyone would take a doe if they were able to get the buck first. I'm a meat hunter so doesn't matter to me either way.

I am all for controling the heards. But you could also control the heard during the other seasons like shotgun season one of the most hunted season. This would give us the option of what to shoot first.

If you remember the state gave us an early bow season, opened it earlier than usual...their reasoning was to kill some of the doe heard early....so the trade off is, if you want to hunt during the heat of sept. you must shoot a doe first...i think its fair and not hard to do at all...if you dont like it and people start to bitch about it look at the trade off...they might say fine kill the doe during the gun season but opening day of archery is now oct 2 again!!!!!!!!!!! Dont like the rules of the early season then wait until oct. when the official fall bow season opens and you can take what you want...
