I recently came out of the Stone age and purchased an in-line, Knight Vision 50cal. I plan on shooting the Powerbelt .295 Aerotip and was considering 777 Pellets. whats everyones opinion? how much charge/pellets and what else is good out there? I hear the Jim Shockey stuff is good? I know it varys from gun to gun, just trying to get some Field Tested Opinions..Yes and I also know Knight went out of business.

I used 150 gr of the triple 7 pellets with 250 gr tc shockwaves and was very happy with the results. The pellets seem to burn a little dirty though.

Pellets are convienent but I prefer loose powder. I use 100 grs of 777 and am happy with it. My brother shoots 120 gr of 777 loose. We both use Shok Waves.

I have a can of Blackhorn 209 I'll be working with shortly to see if I can eliminate the fouling ring I get with 777. Some one just published an article on Blackhorn that was very complementary [Guns&Ammo?].

thank you all for your input. I heard the Blackhorn is good stuff too, Im concerned with the buildup with Triple 777 and have been using powder not Pellets for over 30 years.. Ill keep you all posted on what I settle in with..

Arrowsplitter, I'm a big fan of good old black powder, but if your going to travel you might want to try another type of powder as I have heard nightmares of people trying to fly and carry black powder,(EXPLOSIVE), on the trip. Still as I said, I'll use the black powder and smile all the way to the butchers. :D

tried 777 peletes ok till the weather gets rainy then throw them in the trash and I had everything well coverd and lost the only buck I had a shot at all year my son in law had the same problem that same day his was a doe both guns just fizzeld and shot about 25 yrds.went back to pirodex that day same condistions and got a doe. I'm thinking of trying american pioner powder I'v heard that itis very clean and cleans with just water any feed back is helpful never used powder only pelets and I use powerbelts 245 gran and knock the snot out of them:rolleyes:

Use loose black powder and keep knocking the snot out of them. Also got news for ya, it cleans up with soap and water too. Unbelievable, a reliable powder that cleans up with water and I can adjust my load to be the best my gun can be. TA-DAAAAAAAA. I love my black powder, it helps me eat well.

I haven't tried any of the new Shockey powder but a couple years back I tried everything out there and settled on loose 777. When shot over the chrono it far surpassed everything out there. I could get the same velocities with 100 grains of 777 that I was needing 130+ grains of other stuff. I have an Encore and and Omega and both guns shoot 120 grains of 777 with the 250 grain Barnes expander in nice little cloverleafs under an inch at 100 yards. Velocity was very consistent with a 2215 low and 2218 high with the Encore. I bought the Omega 2 years ago and have not chrono'd that but expect it to be similar, maybe slightly more due to the 26" barrel length.

my last post about 777 was with a flint lock I'm going to try either white hots or 209's but I'm leaning to 209's like I said before 777 pelits wet weather don't work well .Powder I have not try'd may or may not work well . But I don't want to find out either birned once and lost a nice buck last year flintlock in PA won't this year .
