Upstate NY hunting in Dec...

I'll be heading up around Utica, NY Dec. 7-12 to watch a friend's house and am wondering if anyone has hunted up in that area...thinking about doing my first bear hunt up there. Any tips, comments etc from others who have hunted up that way are greatly appreciated.

I'd travel a little further north(an hour or two) to hunt bear:The Tughill Plateau.
use more gas and time,BUT:
You will improve your odds tremendously and not have as many hunters around.

:thup:I hunt in salisbury Ny half hour east of utica awesome place very little hunting pressure a place that time forgot tough hunting but worth it !!!!
