I do this will be my first year though! I have been scouting the last 4 weeks and have been seeing plenty with more than 3 on one side! Plenty! I missed the cut off for permits though and was wondering if they sell the left overs after the lottery?!?!?!? Good luck see you out there!

I hunted it for a few years now. Mostly with the muzzle loader. 1a and 1b was my favorite zones.

I never had any problems getting the Muzzleloader permit. Just went and got one over the counter at Assunpink.

Anyone interested in doing it with Me?? I ussually do it myself

I guess you didnt read the rules about spot burning. The lottery is only muzzleloader bow is open to all of new jersey so yes please dont spot burn and post pics. if you want to post pics from burington county thats fine but dont label them fort dix.

Man you guys take things way to serious. Thats why I was glad to leave the last site I was on. I really didnt think all of new jersey would be there. But If I post a picture of a big buck and told exactly where it was at I would bet there would be at least one more person who wasnt hunting there before. If you guys wanna see big bucks go out and do your homework find a spot dont let someone else do it for you thats part of hunting.

Hey Guys,

We have discussed this a bit in the bow hunting forum. We would rather not have post that give away exact locations. We even said certain zone #'s would be too specific. That being said, I realize that it sounds a bit ridiculous at first but I can assure you it is for good reason. I have seen good friendships ended over hunting and fishing spots being burned over the internet.

I saw this thread mentioned the spot but wasn't sure what to do with it because I am not familiar with Fort Dix and the huntable land surrounding it. I thought it might be a rather large tract of land and it wouldn't be a problem. However, as I suspected and as is normal from what I've experienced, it goes the wrong way sooner or later. We could argue it for hours and both sides would have good points. Bottom line is though, the easiest way to deal with it is to not deal with it. I also realize that posting a pic of a buck you saw at Glassboro WMA is a whole bunch different than saying look at this buck from Wharton State Forest. Obviously those two areas are much different in size. I however don't want to have to sit around and check the acreage of these places before deciding what to do with the post :).

So from here on out, becareful about posting reports or pictures and mentioning the name. You want to discuss Fort Dix, that is great, but please refrain from posting pictures and/or reports and naming these places specifically.

:naughty: I think it is totally wrong that he even said anything about my post! Grow up, Fort Dix covers 55 sq. miles of land and the place the pic came from no one can hunt unless you are military personnel anyway! As the moderator said if i say its from zone 37 how would you narrow down the spot with as much acreage is in the zone. If I was worried about my spot being burned I would not post it on here! I know, its my spot only as I am the only one who hunts this property that butts up against Fort Dix! Its private property and no trespassing! So no I'm not giving away any ones spot! No spot burning here! Just cause you hunt Fort Dix doesn't mean nobody else does. There is over 300 men and woman in the club! I'm sorry but i don't take this easy cause its like little kids crying over which toy they are gonna playing with! I have no problem showing pictures of deer on the property i hunt! How do you spot burn unless you give away exact coordinates? No GPS numbers or intersection given with the picture!

I am unsure what to make of your post. The opinions are split 50/50 with regards to spot burning and both sides have good points. For the sanity of Ron and I and for the good of the board and the membership we decided we didn't want exact locations mentioned.

Bottom line is this, we are asking any picture or report that is posted doesn't mention a specific location. Ron and I discussed this issue before the site was online, so it isn't really up for any further discussion. I do appreciate everyones cooperation.

phil .....zone #'s are too specific ?. thats like saying a fishing report from the hudson canyon is too specific.

H&R,

I understand what you are saying but how and where do you draw the line? First it is Hudson Canyon, next it is the Old Grounds, than it is the Pin Top, and finally it is #1 bouy outside of the Maurice River. Do you think we can get everyone to agree on the point at which it is too specific?

I know it sounds like a bit much. However we don't want to sit around and try to decide what zone is too specific and which isn't. If you saw a giant buck in zone 55, Glassboro WMA, that is pretty specific. Now if you say you saw a giant in zone 25, that is different because 25 is pretty large and encompasses a decent amount of public and private ground.

The problem is if we don't allow specific reports/pics for 55, but allow it for 25, sooner or later somebody will take issue with specific reports for 25. I can see exactly how it would happen. Someone would post a pic of a real nice deer from private land in 25, but wouldn't mention whether it was taken on public or private ground. John Q Bowhunter is hunting a real nice deer on public land in the zone that looks eerily similiar to the buck in this pic. John gets a bit paranoid because this is a real nice deer. Well a week later and hang on stand goes up in the location John is hunting and John becomes irritated and comes on here blaming the guy who posted the picture and the site. It may be a bit over the top but sooner or later I can assure you it would happen and who needs it? As I said above, I don't want to sit around and measure the acreage that these areas are and than decide whether or not to allow these types of post.

We made this decision based upon past experiences over at the Bassbarn and from what we've seen happen on other sites. We would rather it never be an issue here and I don't see any other way to make sure that it isn't. We really believe it is the best decision for everyone.

Thanks phil Theses guys are way to serious I really dont care if the guy posts a pic in fort dix thats why I put the smile and wink Icon. I have my spots and I will hunt them no matter who is hunting next me. The reason I said anything was because I read the post about spot burning. Pinecone it was all kinda a joke but if you love to show off your deer then just say they are from a private piece of ground you are hunting. I am sure if you had to hunt public ground you would know what I am talking about. this is the internet people are crazy. I could post a pic of a deer i got in fort dix say the pic was taken in zone 55 off the second field on the left and somebody would hunt there the next day looking for. We all have seen it done on the bass barn. I am done with all the trouble making best of luck to all you guys this year. Pine cone no hard feelings if you ever want to meet up sometime let me know. Thats why I am here to meet guys from my area and keep the sport of hunting alive.

Guys, trust me when I tell ya, the last thing we want to do is to ask that people not post certain things. However, when it comes to spots, well, that's something we need to take seriously.

There's some serious issues that arrise from posting specific locations on a public forum. Some of the things that come to mind; Over crowding/harvesting, loss of land access, littler, parking, theft, people doing their business (#2) on your bait pile ;)

Our new community is off to a great start. We've managed to put together what Phil and I agree to as being a "really good member base". The last thing we want is to turn the positive communication into a ever lasting flame war, where we're constantly beating each other up over spots when we could be sharing useful information.

So please, with all due respect to each other, land owners and our one and only moderator (Phil, who we dont want to burn out too quickly), let's open up the lines of communication without burning any spots
