I have 2.
The Summit OPEN SHOT Deluxe.Which is very lite and has the open front for Bow Hunting.
Pros. Lite weight. 12lbs
Cons.Very unstable
Tricky Climbing on smooth Bark trees. Cable Slips
Seat must be ratchet to the tree or will fall out from under you if you bump it while standing.(not a big deal u should secure it with a ratchet strap anyway).
Gripping teeth on platforms less than desirable.
My second stand I LOVE IT
API GRAND SLAM
Pros Stable
Easy to Climb with
Stay in it ALL day
VERY secure feeling
Cons Heavier 16lbs
Gun rest/bar on seat a bit tough to shoot the bow. Got to remember its there or (clink) away goes Mr. Deer. Just lift the bow over the rail and your good to go.
MY API GRAND SLAM is the go to stand.
I have used others and nothing comes close to its ease of set up and safe feeling.
I think the API that I have is now called the ALUMI-TECH MAGNUM
Very happy with my Lone Wolf.

Any of the summit climbers would be my call. I use the Utlimate Viper SS for short treks or when I can go in w/ the 4 wheeler. A little heavy @ 26lbs. I use the Bushmaster for the longer hauls or for mobility. I think it comes in around 17lbs. Both are very comfortable, safe, and very easy to use. Only problem w/ the viper is, it is too comfortable. I would love to know how many deer and or bear I never saw due to the napage factor!

Hogger, how does that bushmaster pack up, I go through some real heavy overgrown swampland. The one I have now goes from my head to the back of my knees and i Get caught up.

im with api you feel so safe as you have a chain digging in to tree instead of a cable, also you can get a tighter fit to trees.and the seat on mine has a rail in front which i lay my bow or gun across which lets me put hands in pockets when cold,i last alot longer than other stands as is way more comfy:thup:
Lone Wolf is my choice. Never found a better climber.

Truede1, it is easier and more light weight than most other climbers I tested and have used. I had the same problem w/ the stands dragging on the back of my legs, and the Bushmaster is a bit smaller tham many stands so it wasn't as bad. I took the straps off and mounted them so the stnd sits upside down. Works perfect for getting through the heavy brush.

I agree w/ the Summit Viper. The only prob I have is that sometimes there is a slight sound when standing out of the seat. It is very comfortable and sometimes I end up sinking back like im in a recliner. This makes getting up a little harder. I started raising the seat a few inches higher and it keeps me more upright and awake.
The stand grabs the tree nice which makes it seem very secure up there.

summit viper SS, i try to get up in the tree atleast a hour before sunrise, get my best sleep in my viper too.
i recommend getting the foot pad, helps keep the cold off your feet. i missed a deer last year in the snow, went to stand up and my boot squeaked on the metal

I would have to agree the summit vipper is the best climber I have ever owned. I get some of my best sleep in that stand. Very user friendly, goes up with ease.

I love my Lone Wolf hand climber - light, folds flat and the rubber climbing bands make little noise. A bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

Go with Lone Wolf. Very lite and pack easy. No noise at all. You'll be very satisfied with it.

Truedel I
I have an Api Outdoors Alumi-tech climbing stand with the climbing aid that I was preparing to put up for sale on this site. I live in Blue Bell, PA. Contact me if interested-used very lightly, 2 times at best. I have bad knees and can't climb.
