some areas i have seen big polts. i think mostly we lost the first nest to all the rain. i think they reset. lets hope for a higher % of hatches on the second go round.

2-3 years from now it's gonna be a slow spring gobbler season. I think this rain may of taken a few polts around here in SE Pa.

The weather will have a impact for sure, on a brighter note I saw a good number of jakes while out this spring.....wont make up for the polt loss:( but puts mature birds in the stock come spring:D.

i just saw a hen with 10 little ones. they were having trouble walking in grass that was cut on friday. that gives you a idea how small they were. i'm sure they hatched this weekend.

I've seen a lot of poults so far this year. Some were early, but a lot lately. My friend has a hen and 12 little ones each day in his back yard. According to fish and wildlife, the 3rd nesting in south jersey is the best and the survival rate is over 70%. I'm not sure how the biologists come up with the numbers but I know when I see little ones later in the summer they are usually in large groups. I'll be out there this fall looking to thin some fall gobblers out of the mix. Jersey is nice because you can take your bow into the woods and have a deer and turkey tag on your back.:D

Saw about 8 with a hen on Thurs, near our place in Northern Columbia County. Saw another 10 or 12 with 3 hens on Friday morning about a mile from our place. There are always alot of birds on our mountain, since all the property is private and most only hunt deer, except me and some others on the mountain. Saw nothing in the Game Lands, but it was pouring rain most of Friday.

Had two hens and about 10 poults at the house here in Berks Co. The Poults looked small though. Guess a late hatch. Either way its always nice to see the birds around the house. Just cut a mess of cherry down and spread it around the property for the deer this winter.
