Seems like everyone on the board is not seeing deer like opening day. I too think its the Moon. As soon as it shrinks up a little I think we will be ok.

Yeah, those full moon phases are never good. I never see much during a full moon phase. Sometimes the afternoon before the full moon is good, but never afterwards.

for me it's the late rising, not so much as the full.
the deer will just wait till moon rise to come out. if it was a early rising moon it wouldn't matter much. i like the 2pm moon rise, it gives them no reason to hang up and wait.
i had good movement last night. saw deer from 4pm till dark, but wasn't hunting a field edge.

I've seen quite a few deer the past few days..even tagged my Doe yesterday, but it's all in the woods. They have been on beech nuts and acorns...............not hitting the grasslots until after dark..........

Don't waste your time hunting the full moon in the am as the deer are making their way back to bedding areas in the am dark. I have been seeing a fair number of deer on their feet about two hours before dark. So it may be something else if you are not seeing deer, like a different wind directions. Or just something. I really don't think it's the moon in the afternoon. That would mean the deer went all day and in to the pm dark before they got to their feet and ate.

most deer movement I see around the full moon is between 10 am - 2 pm....they head to bed early but they also need "stretch" and drink a little as well. Try sleeping in and getting to your stand around 8 or 9 am....

I agree they are moving it is just not at the traditional times , If I was in my stand on the 16th at noon i would have gotten a nice one and if i made it there in the evening I would have had a chance . Hopefully friday afternoon I will score .

September 15th was the full moon...That was the worst day so far that I have hunted...opening day I had 4 does and an 8 pointer on my pile...OPening day that evening I had a 9 pter on my pile broadside at around 5:25 p.m. for 15 minutes and 5 more does...Monday night I saw barely any movement...Wednesday morning I went to my honey hole...got in stand at 4:40 a.m. Had two really big bodied deer come in...Dont know if they were big bucks...but I saw some bone on their heads...They walked away around 6:05 a.m. just before shooting light...I am hoping for cool weather this Saturday to get out early morning and try again...fixing to put a whooping on a big'un!:fight:
