OK, I have a knight original disc that I havent shot in years, I took it down and began cleaning everything up. How often do breech plugs get replaced? Is it a common to replace them every so many years, and if so why? When looking through the breech plug, should you be able to see through the tiny lil hole?

I have never had to replace one because I clean it every time I go shooting and lube it up pretty good. I not sure the exact size of the flash hole , but they are very small .I take a sewing needle and clean them out. If the one you have has started to corrode I would replace it.

I can get a small needle or wire into the hole, but cant get it to go all the way throught the hole... The last time the gun was shot it was cleaned, but that was about 6 years ago

I would not try to push the neddle to hard .I get the point in just enough to make sure it is not clogged. If the plug is in good shape I would not worry about it.I have never heard of one wearing out, but then I might only shoot mine 100 times a year.

I'll see whats up. I just ordered a new one, it was 20 bucks. I'll try both. The original breech came out easily, but thats because I greased it when I cleaned it last... The actual hole in the breech was clogged a lil bit, I cleaned it out, but still couldnt get a wire through it, I dont think there is a chamber in there and It should go alway the way through, but it doesnt. Overall the plug was in good shape with little pitting on it.

You will thank yourself for changing that plug because if you didnt the buck of a lifetime would of walked in front of you an the gun would of went pop instead of caboom

Clean your breach plug real good everytime you break your gun down, which should be after each use. I like to soak my plug in powder solution, clean threads with a tooth brush, push out all that gunk with a thin needle or really thin drill bit. I make sure every thing is completly dry before reassembly, I use an old hair dryer set on low or if you have the time let it air dry. A touch of lube and your ready to shoot. Everything on my gun is original and I've had this gun a loooooong time.(exept for the 209 primer kit:)) Keep it well lubed and clean and it should never fail you.
