I have seen it work and Ive seen deer take off running when they pick up the scent. I dont like the idea of walking around my stand in the morning setting up the canisters. There are so many gimmicks out there being marketed Im not about to buy them all but would like to hear your experiences with buck lure. What brand has worked and what is your method of dispersing it?

I don't use the buck lures often. It's usually just a grunt tube for me:). Out west those scent bombs work awsome but in NJ.......better off without. It may have something to do with the density of hunters and everybody using some sort of scent or lure:huh:. I just sit still and get him into range with a little grunt.

Only thing i've used that's really peaked thier interest was silvertop. I'm with ya about setting up the scents upon getting to your stand...when i use it, i use a drag rope with scent pad i set up on my way in so it's ready and simply hang it up when i get to my stand, plus it covers my tracks/scent on the way in and i've scene bucks follow hunters dragging scent who walked by me a half hour before. One thing i do think is worth the effort is to make a mock scrape in a big bucks territory and hunt it. The sell these drippers you fill with scent and hang in a tree that only drips during daylight, and lasts a week or more. Dripping during the day only may condition a buck trying to find what's up to visit the mock scrape during the day, when you're there.

I like the daytime dripper idea. Most times bucks only visit scrapes at night so that would be an idea to try. Thanx!!!

Never had it work but try it every year :D.
One of the hunters up by us said it works for him all the time. He says the secret is to have it no where near you. He puts it about 75 yards or more away when hunting with a rifle. He says if the lure is near you, the deer will smell you as well and know it's a scam. Makes sense.

Now i'm not big on scents, but I've personally had buck bomb and tinks work for me. Never on anything big just lil bucks and does.

I haven't had any luck with Tinks 69 yet, though I read a lot of good things about it.
I have had luck with Hunters Specialties Natural Doe Urine. Had the 2nd or 3rd biggest deer I've seen in the field follow a scent trail I drug while walking into my stand. He came in nose to the ground, unfortunately for me walking directly to my tree and I never got a shot.
My brother and I also had success with the daytime drip bags last year. We made a mock scrape and put the dripper over it with doe in estrus and dominant buck. We had trail cam pics of small bucks working near the scrape and the dripper actually got ripped down twice, from about 5 to 6 ft off the ground. They never seemed to visit while we were up in the tree though.

I have tried most of the scents on the market., but I tried code blue last year and it worked better than the others. One thing about the buck bomb is to make sure if you are hunting in a ground blind that after you lock the tab the wind does not change and blows back toward the blind.

tinks 69 and silver top are the 2 brands ive used. had bucks and doe come and pee in the mock scrapes i put out. never drag it right to your stand. i did that about 20 yrs ago had a nice 8 follow step by step right at me looked up at me and i never got a shot off. ive tried old film canisters and i always left them in the woods. now i use a small spray bottle holds a couple of ounces.
