Went to my daughter's house this past Sunday and drove to the back of her old chicken farm. The building has a collapsed roof and the man doors are all open or broken. Had the wife with me ,while I went to pick up an old door. As we pull up to the end door, my wife hollers, as we are stopping , I saw a flash of something in the building. Lo and behold there were at least 7 maybe up to 12 deer in the building running all over to get out. Falling over each other trying to go out any opening, except the one where I am. Damn Squatters:D
Never thought they would go into a pen like structure, happened so fast we could not get photos.

Shelter is shelter. I would prefer to be in there rather then the woods if I was a deer.

I could understand one deer, but the whloe herd was in there. There was no bait in there, guess they didn't mind limited access and escape portals. Seen deer do crazy things and this is one, I never expected. Even fed them by hand in Pa. and they turned their noses up at apples for saltine crackers. Just a note non had horns either in the chicken coop or in Pa. for feeding. Are bucks more wary??

A few years ago, My wife could almost hand feed a spike buck in my yard. It would come in and eat all the flowers in the flower garden and would rarely eat out back on the pile with the other deer. She named him Roger. Roger was off limits while hunting. I don't think I could shoot him anyway. While I was building my garage, I would store my potatoes and beets in there. No doors or windows and a dirt floor. It was still under construction. The deer would walk right in and help themselves to the bait.

back in 06 when i was in highschool we had a spike run threw the school. He crashed threw a hallway window and ran all through the school, he than made an exit threw an a door that was opened for him. Its really odd since the school is in a feild and, is a bit of a walk to the woods exspecially durring the day light for a deer.

HaHa! It's funny you mentioned potato chips. For a ski vacation this year in late winter we had deer all over our cabin. After we'd get done eating we would throw the leftovers out for the deer. Pancakes, waffles, donuts, salad and bread. They would charge on over when they heard the slider open. They would especially go crazy for potato chips. We got one inside a doorway with a trail of chips. Very cool trip.
