Headed out yesterday for G week and found the turkeys gobblin like all hell before legal gunning..About 6:15 a hen strolled through my decoys and it seemed this morning was shaping up to be like the 1st time I missed a bird on a youth day hunt.Sure enough the gobblers start pouring outta the woods and after a couple hours finally start heading my way with a few hens. I had a bush in my way which with my luck, they stayed behind because they didn't come the way I figured they were gonna. At about 30 yards, I really only saw one opportunity to shoot and shot at a nicer bird from the bunch. He took a chest full of pellets because i saw feathers fly and when I got up he ran away, all the others flew. I tried trackin' him now to do avail . I guess the shot I made might been a little far but I felt comfortable with it. I guess I'm still plagued by a turkey curse or something. Oh well..Still a nice day out none the less!

Too bad you lost that bird. 30 yds is definitely a reasonable shot. Next time aim for the head/neck area. They can take a lot of lead in the chest without going down.

Yeah I do. See, the 1st bird I missed when I was 15..16 literally ducked the shot and the pattern is still on a tree to this day.. So i aimed a little lower this time in the even the bird did that.. so again, oh well.. Thats why it's called hunting :o
