i got one. set up at 5 am and it was clear until around six. then it poured and it poured and it poured some more. heard two gobbles the whole morning until about 7:10. saw a bird fly down from the roost and circle to my left then another. kept looking and saw a bird zigzaggin out in the back of the field. he started walkin to the left behind a headrow and came out on the other side about 80 yards away. looking back to tell the guy who i was with where he was. looked back and the bird was gone. kept looking for him and about 15 seconds later i peered around a bit of brush and there he was, coming in on a string roght to the decoys. got through one shootin lane and i got my gun up. when he walked int the second shooting lane i blasted him. a good way to christen the new benelli. will post pics when i get the chance. 9 inch beard, 1 inch spurs, around 20 pounds.

Took a youngster out today and got rained on bad...No gobbles at all, seen a tom about 80 yrds away with 4 hens, they moved across the field and never more then looked in our direction. To cold and the birds had zero interest...Oh well hopefully she can get out again for a better day..

Nice birds guys.I took my youngest son out around 9 am.The first set of birds we set up on just didnt wanna work.We left them at 10 am and went on to the next farm.Set up and called in 2 gobblers. The outside bird was a double beard i have been watching and he stayed beyond 50yds.My boy had a 9 1/2-10" Beard Gobbler within spittin distance and he passed on the shot.He was hoping for a shot on the double beard. We just ran out of time. Both birds slipped behind a group of pines and we walked out the back door.I was happy he didnt take the 50yd shot.He said he just wasnt comfortable with the shot.I have killed them out to 60yds with the same gun.He is showing his maturity for sure. He's off monday for opening day.I plan to get a double hopefully,HRL:thup:

you can just shoot out the window at them. there are a bunch of birds over your way. but i think archery would be the way to go.

when your editting your pictures you can rotate them. sometimes photobucket gets mental problems, it will show the picture the right way, but post them sideways. sometimes the opposite way.
thats great all you guys were together.

I had placed the turkey beard on a table in the living room and since we don't hit the mountain home too much in the summer whenever the next time we went back it was gone. I had thought my kids tossed it or something on one of their trips up. :naughty: About a year later I'm cleaning out a closet and there on the floor under some stuff were all the strands of the beard. :please: I scooped them up and tied em up with a little rubber band. It's a given that the mice used the beard for a bed for a while. ;)

Congrats. to all that braved the rain, cold and wind on saturday. Nice birds guys, I was unable to get my permits for turkey season this year. Because zone 15 is so big with so few permits I missed out. Oh well there is always next year. Good Luck on future hunts, and keep those reports flowing.

Spring Turkey Season Opens: Last Saturday was Youth Turkey Hunting Day and the youngsters had a good day.
At the Blackwater Sports Center in Vineland, Sam told me they had 10 birds checked in on Youth Day. The big one was weighed in at 23 pounds, 14 ounces by Ryan McGlaughlin of Franklin Township.
