single shot lever, not sure of the make. i've only had it since i learned to walk. i'll have to check.

the kids like to go, but they want fur every check. tough crowd sometimes.
i had her out bowhunting this year, first night she saw 8 bucks, a couple does with fawns, two woodchucks and a red fox. at dark she said it was slow, and thought we'd see more.

make sure you get some tags on those traps.
http://www.traptags.com/
make sure they can't reach the tag when in the trap, they will get it.
put it out front over the door or on the door.

that dvd didn't have any skining help, call me if you need help.

Nice! The little ones are always The hardest crowd to please!!

You seem to like those boxes for raccoon. We've got an od timer up here who's setting almost entirely for raccoon. It's all he uses....makes his own. Hoping to bump into him again before the seasone ends.

the reds will be fine in a cooler, just no ice. don't want them to lay in water.

well did you get any?

me and mudmarlin ran the line today. didn't cut a single critter track.
had new locations set, good locations. nothing, not a single track.
not sure what this big snow will bring. hope they move before it hits.
pulling next weekend.

and yes, thats a ithica single shot lever. i learned to shoot with that little gun, same with my sister. problem was dad liked switching it for a 30-30. i couldn't tell the difference, till the trigger pull.
we won't talk about the time i got my nose hit with the hammer. lol

littlewhitetailhunter,

same farm as the coon picture, opposite side, the 4 weelers trail.
had a coyote snared for a while. the area was chewed up, all saplings were chewed off at 15". he found the anchor point and chewed off the extention. no coyote there this morning.
tracks said it came from the swamp heading into the cut, closed the loop, hit the end of the snare, then came back in and got wrapped up for a while, but not good enough, he started chewing everything, including cable.
it took 3 weeks to hit.
i pulled everything down for the season.

Bastards!!! I guess they'll chew about anything. Really looking forward to next year and already lining things up for next year in three different directions from the house. Looking forward to the challenge and the preparations. Gonna start on a few habitat "manipulations" even now.

Funny I just told UB how I had not seen a grey in probably close to ten years in one area where I work just last week. Sure enough, Wednesday night I had one run in front of the car. Lit him up with a light and definitely a grey. As many reds as we see, to watch a grey for just a minute or two, it amazes me how much more "feline" they are vrs a red. Slighter in build and how they move....When you see primarily one, you definitely see the difference when you see the opposite...

greys are my favorite. but they don't work for my style of check by truck. they like it in the swamps and streams, not many places to drive up to wetlands.

mudmarlin70, do you remember that 4 weeler trail? past the pasture. thats what they like to run down here, 2 track roads and field edges. just takes three weeks to hit sometimes.

those reds came out nice, just waiting for the heads to dry. then sell everything. i'll take a picture of them before i sell.

Yeah Ub, same here, when I used to see them back in the nineties, You really rarely saw them on the roadways. This one was in an area of swamp and he took off out of the roadway well in advance of the car. I got lucky fininding him with the light about fifty yards off the roadway standing on a stump looking back at the road.

Glad the reds turned out considering they were taken with the shotgun. I'd love to see the pic of them turned out..
