Maybe not better but just as equal to....Sugar beets....they all have their time...beets last longer when stored through the cold n freeze where potatoes will turn to soup....corn has to be the best all around bait..

I agree corn is probably the best. If you hunt in an area with a lot turkeys then I usually use sweet potatoes and sugar beets. I also use deer cane under the bait pile.

I like sweet potatoes, beets are ok but they won't eat them in some spots:confused: Corn is good in the snow and early season but once the acorns really fall the turkeys eat all the corn.

Check with some of your local farmers to see if they have them!
I buy them by the truckload...

My vote is for small sweet potatoes. If you are in competition with other hunter's bait piles, the sweet potatoes will give you the edge. Plus, they blend in with the ground and don't reveal your spot like corn and apples.

Corn works well in freezing weather but heavy rain causes it to swell. Corn attracts all birds and squirrels in the area. Every 15 minutes you think that big boy is coming in behind you. Corn's great for auto feeders. Corn is the easiest to store and the easiest to use. Carry a small bag in every trip to your spot(s).

Apples pull the deer in from a greater distance if you rub them on trees near your pile. Some hunters pour apple juice on the bushes. You have bee problems if the apples are rotten or have bad spots. Bees don't bother the deer.

I've always used apples, corn and salt or mineral licks. Never had luck with potatoes, they just rot to fast.

Planting a little bit of clover also works.

Claytons in Horsham Pa is carrying a product called Bucker-Up! This stuff is amazing! I put out 20 lbs of it with 50 lbs of corn and over night they ate everything! It's much better than C'mere-Deer!

 I hunt in Franklinville, we use the sweet feed by our stands and it works great. I've laid trails leading to the main pile, and have watch the deer follow the trail right up to the main pile. The rest is history

i believe it is a toss up in my area for corn and sweets, but i have to many turkeys for corn. I have tried apples in my area and have never had luck. I think it is like striper fishing. It is all about what the deer can have in fields around you.

Where i hunt in gloucester county i've tryed everything mentioned above. But except for the pears that are available in the fall, carrots, in my opinion are the best. I have watched the deer come back night after night as long as the carrots where there. As i mentioned above the pears are my number one choice. They will eat a pile in one night. Thats abot 60 lbs.

corn is ok later when its cold, it creates too much body heat and they usually wont hit the corn when its warm, sweet potatoes early

I'd say the best bait is a hot doe. But unless you are willing to rub doe-in-heat scent on your hunting bibs and get down on all fours blowing into a bleat call, its probably not a viable option. I would guess it would be uncomfortable as well... :(

Corn is easy. Apples work well for us in Monouth county, though they are labor intensive to store, collect, and carry in.:):)

I am sold on sugar beets! I dumped a bin out on the farm last Tuesday, they wiped them out by Monday! i just dumped another bin yesterday for next week, they will probably tear them up by the weekend again. The nice thing about the beets is that the turkeys:naughty: don't eat them like they do the corn. I've seen 30 turkeys at a time descend on my corn when its down, so the beets are great!
