Mr. Fat Lard ( we called him Lardy) is better than all other labs. Mr. Fat Lard hunted and fetched OK. He weighed 120#.

Every day he would greet me. How? By jumping over a four foot fence as I pulled into the driveway.

While jumping over the fence in his thirteenth year, Lardy's penis got caught.

He lived.

I have a 1 1/2 year old chocolate. This past spring I was working in the yard. Hailey steals a plastic flower pot from me. She starts running but can't see where she is going. The pot is over her eyes and face. Bam into one of the few trees in the yard. The pot shatters into pieces, and she is crying and limping. A couple of trips to the vet, meds and try to get her to rest.

She is not as fast as before, and kind of runs different, but dosn't seem to care. :)

My 9mo old hates squirrels, which is fine because they no longer shred my trash bags:)

A month ago, we are on the patio having coffee in the morning and Brownie spots a tree rat running along the fence top. He does his usual 100mph sprint to squirrel, who for some unknown reason, decides to stay on top of the fence while running away. The slow escape allows Brownie to get close. He was so focused on the chance he finally had to catch this squirrel that he wacks both rear legs on a landscape railroad tie. I could hear the hit and when he gets up, one leg is sticking out sideways:o Now he is chasing the squirrel on 3 legs...never even a wimper, could care less.

I'm thinking vet trip and then POP, the leg goes back into place. I guess it was dislocated. After that, he showed no sign that it ever happen. Labs can definately be the bull in the china shop type.

Had my old buddy Bell catch a squirrel while phesant hunting that got her a free ride to the emergency room. Rat bit her lip so bad she needed stitches and was out of hunting for weeks:(. I miss her!

I have a lab named Roxy and when she was two we bought a pup named Remington.Remy had a habit of running into the garden so one day I did not feel like going after him so I told Roxy to go get Remy. She picks up a stick and a couple of minutes she come out dragging Remy.I have a friend who did not believe me so I let Remy out of the house and into the garden he goes.I tell Roxy to go get him.Again she gets a stick and drags him out.I have no idea what made her do it , but she never did it again.

When i was growing up, i had a chocolate female lab named Casey.
We bred her for two litters of great pups, and then had her fixed. I was about 17 years old, and my parents had a cockapoo dog that when it was a pup was hit by a car and walked or hobbled on 3 legs. One afternoon my parents and i are on the back porch and my lab was in the yard on the lead to run around. We noticed she was digging a small hole about the length of her body. We really didn't pay much attention to what the hell she was doing. Then out of the side yard came the hobbling cockapoo... He went out to see her and what happened next was definitely R rated. The little cockapoo w/ 3 legs went out to meet her, my lab layed into her hole she dug, and the 3 legged little yip dog went to town. My dog was fixed and my parents and I were floored. no exaggeration that little 13 year old 3 legged dog humped for close to two hours, until finally he started to make his way back to the house when he just fell over in the middle of the yard. He was so tired that my mom had thought he was dead, but nope just very very tired...
It was probably the funniest thing i had ever seen.

:D
